I understand I may miss a few things that exist because, well, this is an ARPG but I have a hard time to understand many design choices.
Since Loot filters exist, what is the point of common or rare items even existing? since you NEVER even touch a white item and barely any blues why do they even drops? white doesnt have more crafting potential than a good rare.
fix: make whites and blues have more starting crafting potential
Gold, outside very very small corner of the game, what is the point of gold? trading cost are so ridiculous its make no sense, billions? what the point? why would I care about having billions of gold since anyway I cant do anything much with it?
What the idea behind very weak passive, like +5 hp, +2 elemental dmg or +1% anything?
Sure I understand this necessary to some degree in a ARPG, but when im lvl 80 and have to add a point to +5 hp or +1% mana regen, its just doesnt feel like im getting anything much.
what was the idea behind the crafting shard? why is there a tons of different shard, was that necessary? after playing a few character to 50+ I have so much they serve barely any use.
Fix: just remove the specific shards name, make the crafting cost a number of materials you gather instead of requiring you need the +poison dmg to add the +poison dmg affix
why does shard, scroll and rune arent looted directly in the “forge”?
These questions are purely to understand and not to bash or anything. LE is like one the best ARPG I played nearly in my life but I feel like that there is a few thing that irks me and that feel uncanny and awkward
This one makes no sense, you say tradingcosts are ridiculous but you cant do anything with your billions?
You can use them with a specific rune which slams 4 random affixes on the gear, and maybe you get lucky. But yea the forgingpotential is a bit too low.
I mean every affix has a use for a different build so,…
Or are there examples you find overall useless in any build?
A blue item can have 2 high tier affixes. In fact an exalted item can drop with just one affix, which is technically a blue item. They can still be usable for crafting but yeah the low FP makes it hard.
Lightless Arbor dungeon will eat every gold piece you have.
None of them are small. + flat damage is actually big, even if it’s 2 per point. HP usually comes with something else. Any percentage as small as 1% is usually balanced because it’s a big deal whatever it is. Don’t underestimate any passive.
Every affix that can be on a normal item has a shard, that’s how crafting works. They are extremely useful, you just aren’t crafting enough. Lvl 50 is barely starting the game.
Old design choice that will probably change in the future.
I think you misunderstood, outside of the ridiculous price of trading, there no point of having gold in this game
I dont see how is that different from any rare with 4 affixes you get, which you can loot filter
you misunderstood the idea, its not that one specific affix is useless, its that I dont see what the point of having ALL of them being separated and at the end its doesnt add anything to be all “separated” really, why not just one ONE resources and make the affix cost differently on which one you want. There no need to have 55 shards of +intelligence
Okay this makes more sense, well you can use it in lighless arbour, at the end of the dungeon you can craft rewardchests which sink your gold and give sometimes huge rewards, depending on how much gold you invest.
This is just a low lvl thing i agree its not rly of high use.
They should buff FP on base items so you can actually try to craft them with good affixes.
This is just how they design it you can defenitly make a system like you described.
I guess D4 is making this in Season 4 for example.
they may, but again, this can be filtered, exalted are exalted not “blue”
I dont understand? how can something with +1 dmg be ANY good? am I missing something, if your attack deal 300, its now deal 301? I dont see how its good
same question for say a +2% mana regen? unless you ALREADY have like 50 mana regen, a 2% literally gives you 0, so I dont get it unless you goes out of the way to have a tons of base stat already
1- White gear is for your very first character. If you only had exalteds and up, you would be naked until level 50. Blue gear can sometimes be crafted into decent gear, although they’re mostly used only for shattering affixes. It’s also useful for early leveling. Rares can actually be crafted quite reliably and are an easy way to get your baseline gear.
2- You can use gold to buy stash tabs and shatter runes, plus you can use them in the gambling dungeon. Players usually go there to sink many millions of gold into a huge lootsplosion.
3- Your skill is already using your base flat damage from gear. So adding another +1 will actually add more than just +1 to the final damage because it then gets multiplied by all your increased damage sources. Flat damage sources are rare, so they’re very good.
4- Some shards are rarer than others. If you don’t have shards of that type, you can’t add/upgrade that affix. Stuff like +level to skills, etc. This allows you to target craft on your gear while making sure that all your gear isn’t simply optimized affixes, since you first need to farm those. It’s simply a way to separate common affixes from rare ones.
5- It’s a design decision from the devs. They want you to make active decisions to pick stuff up. Not many players feel the same way (me included) but it’s their choice. And, to be fair, I do end up not picking up most affixes that drop.
That was your option. On my first character I just picked a few whites to sell, but I used a lot of blues. 2 good affixes for your build are usually better than a rare with a single one, even if the others are slightly beneficial.
And you can still pick them up to shatter valuable affixes. I’ve shattered several blues with +level to a skill.
