Several controller support issues making some builds unplayable with a gamepad

I’m really a player who bought with game because of controller support. And yes I know it’s only. But I believe some bugs are easy to fix and developers are really doing their best.

Not all builds are controller friendly.

  1. Some range skills just ignore enemies close to our hero especially when enemy unit comes from behind. Builds affected: all range builds with not aoe skills (fireball, lightning bolt, mana strike, all bow attacks, all throwing target attacks etc.
  2. Totems aren’t summoned on spell towers (end game monolith building) when 3 totems at once node is learned.
  3. Focusing on chests may not be turned off. This is very annoying using moving skills.
  4. Interacting with some objects by pressing A button fails very often (opening doors, speaking with npc, interacting with some monolith objects).

For now only minion or aoe builds are playable with a gamepad.

I may record any video for bug reproduce if it’s needed. But it’s better to follow steps for qa engineers:
Use character with unlocked all the content.
Travel to imperial age - citadel sewers/divine era - upper temple (or any other location where enemy units have movement skill to come behind you)
Try to kill units with range skills via gamepad when they are close to your character.

Welcome to the forums.

yeah, there are two sides to this issue.

firstly, there are technical problems with controller functionality in that certain actions are buggy and that some controllers function better than others. this is also true for interaction with the game ui.

secondly, and perhaps more relevant to your post, specific in play defaults and controller actions still need work to figure out the best way to handle it based on the build playstyle… thats related to your comment about what builds do work right now.

the devs have committed to 100% controller support in version 1.0 so its likely that they will put more effort into this after the big MP push for 0.9

I think all mentioned issues aren’t related with controller model. For example range skill issue is just related to not focusing nearest enemy units.

thats why i said the second part of the issue is more relevant to your post.

i included the technical comments to give more background because they happen and no amount of controller configuration helps if there are hardware related bugs or compatibility issues.
