Sentinel Lunge Skill Perk "Cull the Weak" stopped working (edited title)

Class: Sentinel - Void Knight
Skill: Lunge
Perks: “Cull the Weak”, “Blade Stream”
After selecting the Perk “Blade Stream”, the other perk node of the Lunge Skill tree “Cull the Weak” stopped working. Enemies of any kind didn’t get executed at the 15% HP threshold anymore. Unspeccing the “Blade Stream” Perk fixed the issue and the “Cull the Weak” is working again.
Log File

Quick Update: After working again, it now stopped culling completely. Maybe it was a timing issue, relating it to “Blade Stream” but Lunge does not cull for me with the perk selected.

This sounds odd. Even bugs tend to be more consistent…

Please can you do two things - 1) verify the game files to make sure your install is ok and 2) please attach your player.log from a session when this happens…

(the log file you attached in the first post just links a jpeg)

Player.log (53.1 KB)
Sure, here is the log file - I used two dashes (I have the two charges perk) on a Void Elite, the first hit was maybe above 15%, the second definitely well below. No other monsters around, so that would (hopefully(?)) rule out a missclick.

I did also verify the integrity my local installation, no issues were found - All 862 files successfully verified.

When you’re Lunging and the cull isn’t proccing, are you doing it from adjacent to the target or from “max range” (which is ~10m from memory, though how far that is in-game i have no idea)?

Very close ranged in most case. In the last session definitely very close / adjecent.
As I got 2 charges, I am quite lenient in judging the 15% mark, lunge at the target do more dmg and dash again leaving me in close proximity at most times.

I also managed to produce a short clip of it, if there is any way to share I’ll gladly do so.

Ok… Cannot see anything in the log that could indicate any underlying error that could be causing this so its probably something in the code that the devs would need to check.

Llama8s comment about the distance could be involved - Lunge does odd things if you use it close range sometimes…

To help the devs when they see this, please can you put up a screenshot of your Lunge Skill tree (or post a link to your build on lastepochtools.com) so that they can tell exactly what nodes are active when trying to replicate it.

Posting clips - you can use Imgur or another video hosting platform and link to it (or embed) from here…

Thanks…

Can you do one last test with your setup?

Lunge into a mob from varying distances and see if this has any impact on the Cull - I am wondering if the issue is the Initiate’s Onslaught node (as Llama8 is guessing)…

I.e. if a Lunge at distance culls correctly, then it may be that the Onslaught node is incorrectly affecting the cull at close range.

Obviously if the distance of the lunge makes no difference then the problem is elsewhere…

Its likely to be hard to test this as the Lunges own damage may be sufficient to kill the mob without proccing the Cull…

That seems to be spot on - distance seems to be the factor - I used a tanky mob and a boss. Normally I stand right up to the mobs to cat warpath, so I didn’t take into account that it only failed at point blank cast.

Great… thanks for checking this to confirm… Should help the devs find and fix the cause. The “distance factor” of Lunge seems to be an issue in a few things, not just the Culling… so hopefully they can resolve this and fix all the issues at once…

Spot on guess @Llama8

This isn’t the first time this has come up, I’m not sure if there’s a hidden distance-based modifier on the base skill (other than the mana cost one) that affects everything or if it’s one of the nodes that has that effect, but some nodes do mention this effect (the Smite one for example).
