Sell Quad tabs as a microtransaction

Hello, I would like to support this game, but I don’t see value in cosmetics as a whole (for any game), so I thought of asking you guys to start selling quad tabs in the shop. For those that are not familiar with the terminology, a quad tab is a regular chest tab, but with 2x times more rows and columns, allowing me to fit the content of 4 regular tabs in it.

This has been talked about before, but it’s not likely to be an MTX. If implemented it will likely simply be sold for extra gold.

Devs always said they didn’t want to sell MTX that gives any in-game advantage. Although they will be selling classes soon, so maybe that might change as well. :man_shrugging:

I don’t consider quad tabs something that would give me an advantage over other players. It is just a nice-to-have for me, a COF player.
The thing is, LE is undermonitized, and this almost led them to bankruptcy.

You can stash more and don’t have to farm gold for it. At the start you don’t have enough gold for all the tabs you want, especially as CoF. Therefore, it gives you an advantage. For CoF it allows you to store more items that are potentially useful, for MG it allows you to store more items to sell.

After a certain point it becomes less relevant, but especially at season start it does provide an advantage.

I agree that they could sell more things, but I don’t think monetizing the stash is the way to go. PoE gets away with it because it’s free.
They could sell character slots, they could sell hideouts (though they’d need to first implement them) and hideout related MTX, etc.
There are many things they could sell that have zero impact in the gameplay. Which is what they’ve always stated was their intent.

Then again, like I pointed out, they already went back on that and will be selling new classes, so anything might happen.

Has it ever been detailed if the new Pinnacle classes (? I think that’s the term) are going to be fully mixed (as in ladder stuff, MG full access, etc?) I haven’t seen much said about it (but I’m not on Discord where I think a lot of stuff gets talked about.)

And I agree, LE has much better avenues for monetization that the stash tab stuff.

Paradox classes.

No details yet, but I seriously doubt that they will be separated. People will want to play those alongside regular classes and having a separate stash for them would decrease sales.

At most they might separate them for leaderboards, or even removed from them entirely.

Well, I’m wondering if they aren’t using these as sort of a testing ground (I know, I know the test server already exists) for new stuff they want to implement. They could always make these new characters solo self-found only. Sure, might limit some sales, but it also wouldn’t create seasons where 98% of what’s being played is the new Paradox class (instead of 65% of what’s being played is the new updated ‘Spellblade’ - example only.)

I guess it’s all speculation right now. For all I know these characters may not even be strong at all and designed to just play in weird ways for people who want to have fun doing weird things. LOLFOF.

Looking forward to hearing more about them.

That would be ideal to prevent accusations of P2W. I believe that is their intention with these classes. Whether they’ll be able to pull it off remains to be seen, considering that every time they rework a mastery it ends up being OP.

I don’t think it will be a testing ground in the sense that if it works they’ll bring those mechanics to the main classes. That would lead to most people not buying them, because either the mechanics aren’t good enough to bring to core (in which case they’re not worth paying for) or they’re good enough to bring to core (in which case it’s not worth paying just for a few months advance).
Either situation would result in a lot less sales. It works for TLI because TLI is unashamedly P2W and their new class is always OP.

The best case scenario really would be doing things that you can’t do with regular classes but which aren’t strong (no killing uber in 1s) but are fun. Stuff like being able to multiclass (not all skills, as that would be OP, but a chosen set of each mastery), for example.

The accusations will come no matter how weak and useless the new class would be. It has already begun. And some of it is coming from certain people spreading misinformation with malicious intent.

Rather than quad tabs, I’d find special tabs like one for sorting in uniques much more useful.

They could also sell gimmicks MTX decoration, for example a monolith stats counter.

Another idea: How about a monster compendium / bestiary that unlocks pages after you killed x number of a certain mobs? They display concept art, 3D model viewer, monster stats and their skills (like tunklab or lastepochtools for minions is showing).
