Seeing other players' builds/Setting builds as a guide

It’d be great if we could see other players’ builds/skills/gears on leaderboard like Diablo 3 (right click -> character details). I’m not that good to create builds by myself without checking the others’ and I believe there are many people like me.

If you want to make it more casual/newcomer friendly, you can also add “Set this build as your guide” option to the other user’s character page and when a player selects this, game highlights skills/passives from this build when there are unspent points (like Dota 2 in-game skill/item guides). Also highlights gears in the guide with a different color when they drop and in the inventory.

There’s already plenty of social platforms where builds are available for others to copy. I personally don’t like the idea that anyone could copy a build someone did not freely share for others. I don’t know, maybe I’m in the minority on this but it does bug me on some level.

For more than an hour I’m looking for a build which works on 0.7.7f patch for my necromancer character but there is not any, because things change frequently and they will have to update their build after every patch, so what is the point to work on it for hours. The ones I found are very old builds, even some of the mastery skills are not in the new patch currently.

Also many people think it’s too much work to prepare a build. If they could share theirs with just a single click, it’d be good for them too. Of course there will be detailed guides/builds on these social platforms but this will be another option.

I got you about sharing them but there is a very easy solution for this. It can be optional and people who don’t like this don’t enable “Allow my build to be used as guide”.

I found these somewhat recent Necromancer builds which you may or may not find useful;

Orbo’s Necromancer Minion Build: - YouTube

Boardman21’s Necromancer builds (which might be the same build): Necro Minion Mayhem Is Back Patch 0.7.7d Last Epoch - YouTube
Necromancer Speed Run/Arena Viable Build. Last Epoch Patch 0.7.7d - YouTube

Lastly, from Thyworm a build diary (not exactly a guide) but I’m sure a guide will be forthcoming at some point in the future: Build Diary - Necromancer - Last Epoch Twink Leveling Build - YouTube

EDIT: Oh, and a fourth from Rimed: - YouTube

I really hope Dammitt is continuing his work for LE the same way he did with Grim Dawn Tools. Gd tools is still amazing for theorycrafting, sharing builds and the whole database. Since LE tools is already out for the database i can imagine getting that in the future aswell.

Thank you, I will definitely check them. However, I still think the feature that I suggested would be a very good addition.

Just a usage example; in Diablo 3 I’m using a guide for the current season which I found on internet but then I wanted to see what sets top players in the leaderboard use and checked the top players for my class one by one. This was a good knowledge to see the meta. Since cosmetic items will be Last Epoch’s main revenue source after the release, it’s also good for them if players check the others’ characters and see their cosmetic items because it’d be another reason to encourage players to purchase cosmetics.

I’m against this. I hate this kind of stuff since Blizzard invented it.It’s my time, my thoughtprocess, myself adapting to ongoing changes… It’s like hearing a song, steal the melody and to tell everyone you wrote it.

This would definitely be a cool feature. Would be nice to see, what other players are using.

This sounds like a lot of code that has to be implemented. I don’t know if it would be worth the effort. Taking a screenshot and figuring out in what sequence to put points in your skilltrees is something people should be able to figure out )

I see the downside of this that people don’t need to have much knowledge of game mechanics to copy a build. But there will always be builds and guides around. It doesn’t matter if you follow a guide from a forum or copy a skilltree you see ingame. But think about the poor streamers/content creators that make cool guides/videos to earn fame and clicks.

I don’t think builds in an ARPG need a copyright. Also it might be possible to implement a checkbox to not make you character details public.

This is totaly okay. I still don’t like it if people can poke through my stuff if I don’t write a guide for it ^^.
