Season 3 Feedback

Hey guys,

POSITIVES:

first of all, I love where the game is heading. I love the primordial t8 affix. It REALLY made me feel stronger than last season especially because it provides a HUGE boost for the mid-game where a build might fall off and feel too weak/slow, having a way of getting one extremely strong affix breathes new life into a build and in my case it did exactly that. I also find it understandable that you have to decide between either having one t8 affix or a primordial unique. for me (multistrike void smite VK the raw stats are way more useful than any of the new uniques. doesn’t mean the uniques are bad, just that for my build they turned out to be not that useful. but, you guys already thought of that by letting us use a t8 affix instead, so a big thanks for that. I had a way better mid game experience than last season and i am twice as strong as i was last season.

I also love the new graphical improvements, the game looks a lot better than last season and its performance (not always but i will talk about that below) is usually quite good and smooth. the game runs WAY better than a lot of the modern games, probably because its NOT using Unreal engine haha. the Unity engine and you guys’s optimization really shows and its very nice to play a game that doesnt require multiple AI assisted functions just to be stay above 40 fps. so thanks in that regard.

I was complaining about poor build variety last season and i feel like you guys listened and improved on that front as well. I am excited to see what else we will get next season, i still feel like we need a few more niche builds (I am still dreaming about a PURE lighting bolt autobomber build), but I understand that there are way mote important things to implement, and since other builds have become stronger i can find my peace with it (for now :D).

I also noticed the option to duplicate stash tabs, i can’t state how much i love that feature. (but we still need some work on that front, will comment about negatives below). it really made my experience way more enjoyable, getting rid of those mondane, boring and repetetive things makes the game feel way more premium.

NEGATIVES:

PERFORMANCE CRASHES.
i noticed one thing, this might be me but after i put a point in my weaver tree for the primordial beasts to spawn with additional monsters that drop bones and then opening a rift on an echo my performance completely crashes and i HAVE TO restart the game, the performance does not normalize again, no matter how long i wait. I think without that node on the weaver tree the performance still got worse but i didnt drop down to 5 fps and stayed there. anyways, the one segment (the opening of the rift on an echo and spawning monster through it) needs some inspection. I already read that people are reporting memory leaks, its definitely the bigges negative this season. having to restart the game each time you click on the SEASONAL MECHANIC makes you either skip it completely or just not play at all. it’s REALLY annoying, please take a look into this for next season. in addition, sometimes, without interacting with any rift, the performance becomes worse by itself, i cant really pinpoint what content causes it but it feels like the engine is stuck calculating something infintely, when checking my GPU and CPU i see no significant difference so its definitely not my hardware, the game itself is doing something like calculating shaders or something. in all scenarios, restarting the game is the only solution. I remember vaguely that LE always ahd this issue but this season its way worse.

STASH TAB PRESETS
please let us either save our stash tab presets or provide some way of loading a preset for stash tab layouts for each season. with loot filter we can at least export/import those. I underdstand that one is client and one is server side but for me as a player its one of the boring and unnecessary things that i need to repeat each season. please give us a solution to this next season.

MINOR LOOT FILTER ISSUES.
this season, even though I am not playing with any of the new uniques, I’d have loved to be able to at least select “seasonal” or “primordial” in my loot filter so at least loot them when they drop. having to look them all up on a third party site and and manually adding them to my loot filter for potential use for alts was unnecessary. in general, each season could have a tag that we can easily filter by. but this is not a huge issue, just something i noticed.

CRAFTING:
I am not going to complain about crafting in general because I still think that LE has one of the best crafting systems in any ARPG, i cannot stress enough how much i LOVE progressing a character and its gear in this game. everything is so thought through, especially that i can make use of a unqiue in so many ways, even after it “bricking”, at least in its first and second stages ( not getting any LP via nemesis, but then getting two legendary affixes and thus becoming usable for future rerolls and stuff like that). please keep this amazing craftign system up. YET I noticed one thing, what makes this crafting system so enjoyable is that we can craft 60% deterministacally and 40% by rng. BUT the thing that happened to be this season is that the range of forging potential spent ona craft is so imbalanced that even when getting lucky after farming for 3 days for a better weapon, i get “unlucky” and spend 2x 18 forging potential and can’t really do anything with that weapon. I understand that, on the other side, sometimes getting lucky and spening a bare minumum of forging potential and finishing a craft with 20 FP left is the counter argument, but to be fair, that rarely happens and also, isn’t the whole point of this crafting system to give the player the option to craft without everything being so heavily luck dependent. It would make way more sense to maybe have something like this:

crafting a t1 mod on a free slot costs 1-5 FP
crafting a t2 mod costs 1-8 FP
crafting a t3 mod costs 1-11 FP
crafting a t4 mod costs 1-14 FP
crafting a t5 mod costs 1-17 FP

this way we at least have a higher chance of creating something useful.

OR

someting similar to the gauntlet of strife, where we can use other high tier exalted items to either get forging potential back on an item, i am currently completely discouraged to farm any exalted item because they either need VERY specific affixes OR at least enough FP to be crafted on but then i get one unlucky craft and i can flush thta thing down the toilet. please let us finish our crafts, especially when in very late game.

another option would be to simply drop drop high tier exalted items with higher forging potential. I am already making use of the weaver tree drop system but that doesnt really feel good for exalted items, its way stronger for getting unqiue drops.

CONTENT FARMING:
my very late game loop looks like this:

  1. farm memory ambers (either by empowered shrine maps or empowered cemetry of reweaving maps) <— VERY BORING, so i can get enough ambers to buy nemesis tower maps.

  2. open a high corruption monolith (700+) and find a cemetry to weave those towers and farm as many towers as i can afford <— VERY FUN!, a lot of dopamine and immediate visual representation of possible outcomes. a lot of useful items and possible fixes for useless uniques. and its very quick. definitely love it!

  3. do additional weaver specific maps like collapsing horizon or turtle for LP rerolling and things i need to progress my build. ignoring 90% of maps since they literally dont improve anything thta is relevant. <— FUN

  4. spent all the harbinger eyes on abberroth farms. <— FUN!

  5. goto COF, get Monolith specific RUNE prophecies.

  6. spend all temporal keystones on each monolith twice to get all runes.

REPEAT

I would love to have something in between that i can do to affect exalted items, especially those i spoke of, high tier exalted items that are bricked. we don’t have anything else in late game than crafting and not being able to finish a craft makes me want to immediately quit since i don’t want to spend another 3 days just to MAYBE get another exalted to try to craft on.

  • Please let us auto-pickup runes/glyphs,!
  • for my personal pleasure - please let us build a pure lighting bolt autobomber build! No need to make it as strong as the current reflect build but being able to clear 300+ corruption with that would be nice. miniedit > Storm bolt stacks from the shaman not the chain lighting. the bolts that rain down from above. its nitpicky i know! think of herald of thunder in poe1

they, thanks for the info, I already seen that i was talking about storm Bolt (looking like herald of thunder in poe1. i know its nitpicky!

but to be honest, i didnt try it this season, now with a t8 affix it could be WAY stronger. maybe i should try it out again!

hey! Yes that was kinda the build i did aswell, i think i even followed this or a similar video. i just would like to play pure lighting bolt, no dependencies on bear for or other non-spell abilities, like a elemental shaman of sorts. i even had a discussion about this subject. it wouldn’t require a fully new class just some changes so its viable to play pure spell shaman without bear and stuff. i will do own version and see how much stronger it is compared to last time. But as i said its nitpicky, I would just love to be able to boost lighting bolt even more on its own, like getting more sources for bolt its, higher frequency, and so on without becoming a druid.

I get the sentiment of too variable FP cost. It is a common complaint.

BUT

Adding an affix to a open affix slots needs to be more expensive than upgrading a affix. Otherwise crafting items would be way to easy without major rebalancing of every single crafting method and FP costs of all other things.
Also with this items that already have a lot of good and desired affixes are much much more worth and thus the loot you finding directly matter way more instead of most items being like a blank canvas you just craft your own affixes on.

I think all crafting really needs right now to deal with these cases is simply to have a new rune, rarer than creation, that will add 1FP to an item.

This way, if you have a good item and you’re missing a few crafts but ran out of FP, you can grind for it and add another 1FP so you can do one more craft (which might get lucky and be more than one).

And, being so rare, it wouldn’t be blatant power creep. You’d use it only for stuff that is already almost complete. Or for stuff that is complete but you want to get better affix rolls.

This wouldn’t prevent the cases where you find a decent item and it’s gone with 2-3 crafts, but you will prevent cases where you craft a good item but you’d still need a couple more craffts for it to be really good.
So instead of searching for a new item and starting it all over again in the hopes you can improve it, you simply use one of these ultra rare runes to finish it.

I do not think this would be a solution to the problem, but rather make things even worse.

a) a lot of complaints are not necessarily from players that play hundreds of hours on a given char, so with this hypothetical new rune being so rare it wouldn’t really solve their problems

b) with it being so rare but at the same time super powerful and technically could go infinite it would automatically create feel bad moments, because the new most efficient way to craft an item would be consecutively use this new rune. This could lead to the same or even worse grind than what we have right now.

I think if anything remotely like that would be implemented it needs to be a one-time thing per item. (The item could receive some kind of mark once this new rune has been used on it). This way it would really only be used for that one last craft on an already otherwise very good item. But then again if it would be a one-time thing it wouldn’t really solve the common complaints too.

Well amber can now be bought ya just gotta imprint Rampant coast n farm that then just buy amber bags from vendor much easier but i hope they don,t nerf coast spawn rate then it’s OVER xd
