with the point in question being: “a subskill available to some Rogue skills”. Currently, there is a single skill with Burning Daggers: Cinder Strike. Heartseeker makes 2. 2 is “a couple”, 3 is “a few” and 4+ is “some”. So, linguistically, EHG could be using “some” to mean “a couple”, but I’m hoping that we gain more access to Burning Daggers in existing skills. A few examples:
Smokebomb has a node: Engulfed in Flame, that ignites the smoke cloud at the end of the duration with 3 sub-nodes: Decoys inside the cloud detonate when it ends, leaving detonates it early, and use shadow cascade when it ends. The Shadow Cascade node should be moved to be behind Umbral Shadows (smokebomb generates shadows) and be replaced with “Leaving ignites Smoke Bomb early” and in that slot could go: "Burning Daggers generated inside the smoke cloud are held until the smoke cloud ends. Creating a synergy effect of building up a stack of burning daggers, leaving the cloud (or it ending naturally) and then all the held daggers launching in sequence.
Decoy has a node causing it to ignite nearby enemies, replace this effect with “Generates burning daggers around itself” and the “ignite frequency” with “burning dagger frequency”, the poison conversion node would be a problem here, so alternatively instead of “creates small explosions when hit” it’s “generates burning daggers when hit” and the “additional small explosions” node can be replaced with "launches a ring of burning daggers on the final explosion.
Marksman has Heartseeker, so Bladedancer could access Burning Dagger through Shadow Cascade’s dagger dance. Add a new node off of Hurricane of Blades that generates Burning Daggers while channeling. And Falconer could have it off of Explosive Trap’s Gadgeteer, causing Explosive Trap to launch Burning Daggers every 0.5s once it’s fully armed with 2/2 Gadgeteer required to access it that’s 1s to arm and then 2 daggers per second
Yeah, theorycrafting isn’t the best word to use, I was basically asking if anyone else had fun ideas for how to implement Burning Daggers into existing Rogue+Mastery skills.
I’m expecting we’ll only have access to BD through Cinder Strike and Heartseeker though and the “some” was a mistake
I just used the same word that you did. And I stay with stance on waiting for patch notes, as there may be some new sources of Burning Daggers already prepared.
Yeah, I was saying that theorycrafting wasn’t the best for me to use.
That may be so, but there’s no harm in having fun coming up with ideas on how to implement it. Who knows, you may just come up with something the devs will add in the future or even come up with one of the exact things the did end up implementing which is always fun to say: “hey! I had that exact idea!”
“Contaminate
All bleed chance is converted to poison chance with Dancing Strikes. Physical penetration from this tree converted to poison penetration.”
It says nothing about burning daggers…
@Scipo0419
There’s this relic (Pillager’s Gold) that procs burning daggers, but other than this, it’s really only Cinder Strike…
I hope they’re adding some other sources like the ones you mentioned already. It’s possible, since they said the majority of skills were changed somehow, and they didn’t reveal many details about the Rogue changes yet.
Yeah, I saw the Heartseeker update and then the Black Arrow Stack count + Burning Dagger Buff + Heartseeker procs burning Dagger + Heartseeker’s Fire Buff on Recurve and the wheels started turning.
Put Heartseeker a charge w/ cooldown, convert to fire for recurve stacking a Flat Damage buff to Bow/Spell/Throwing Fire Damage + minimum 66% chance to Recurve + Shadows use Heartseeker. Don’t know how many charges we can get for Heartseeker, but with 3 stacks of Black Arrow, creating Shadows on Pickup, Heartseeker w/ 3 Charges would be a minimum of 6 Heartseekers at once (3 from you + 3 from Shadows), adding a stacking flat damage buff to your Bow and Throwing Fire Damage through Recurves (based on the highest recurve count per arrow) + Cinder Strike as a filler to regen mana and health with Oil Coating (which also buffs fire damage and penetration) and generating burning daggers on cast. I think Cinder Strike can also shred fire resistance and add even more throwing damage with Volatile Flask lol
