Runemaster and old clasess

Hello everyone,

I am really exited for the new class I must say that, but my question to devs is what are you gonna do now with old classes this class even without playing stand out so much that other classes seam like they are so simplified compared to Runemaster. that I would dare to say if Runemaster is 10 by complexity and imersion old ones are 2-4 literaly I mean 40 skill combination? How are you gonna make those classes on the same level as runemaster?

I think RM has a lot of ā€œfirst impression mind blownā€ vibes and I agree that the complexity of the class is pretty high, especially compared to other classes.

BUT

Not every mastery needs to be this complex and overwhelming.
There are some simpler things, if done on the same quality regarding vfx, sounds, animation etc, that can be jsut as great as the RM.

I saw this a lot on gamescom, where people were completely overwhelmed by Runic Invocations and kinda shrugged on it and continued using all the other simpler abilities.

Ok i can agree with that partialy, where I dont agree is that RM has special skill that is more special than any skill in other classes and that is runic invocation at least it would be imersive if there is one skill for every single class in game which is tematicaly coresponding to that particular class I dont know how else to put it hope u understand what I mean

PS I am talking about other classes to have signature spell like runic invocation but with different thematics

You mean the other masteries are lacking ā€œidentity skillsā€?

If you mean that, I disagree.
I think Reaper Form, Meteor, Erasing Strike and Dancing Strikes are incredibly good in standing out as cool skills that are thematic for a given mastery.
Not all of them are on the same level as Runic Invocations and need some updates or overhauls.

But I would actually argue that Runic Invocation is such a uniques skill, that it kinda feels mandatory to use it, because playing RM without Runic Invocations just doesn’t feel right.

Other classes don’t have this problem in my opinion. Surely a lot of the mastery unlock skills are very thematic and strong, but not all builds use them.

With an ability so versatile as RI, it brings its own issues here, where every build will want to take it.

But one thing all of these examples do very well in my opinion is: Visually conveying what class you are playing.
In Last Epoch you can literally see what class/mastery someones palys without seeign their build.

This is impossible in 99% of cases in Path of Exile.

No I mean that Runic invocation is like one ultimate skill that binds all others, that is what I would want to see in other classes now after I so RM but thematicaly to be coresponding to different class

Well, I don’t wanna homogenize classes or masteries, I absolutely hate that idea.

Just because one class has something extremely new and exciting not every class needs to get simialr things.

I would say we should wait for what Warlock and Falconer will bring to the table and then EHG can look into modernizing old masteries.

Thats the thing not similar every class to have one ultimate skill that has compleatly different mechanics from other ultimate skill of different class, that is what I would personaly like to see after seing RM

Really? You can see which mastery is being played just from the character model? 'Cause if you can see which skills are being used then that’s kinda the build…

I meant, that in alot of cases you can tell which mastery a build is, because there are 2-3 skills that are mastery exclusive.

So for example if you see a melee character using Erasing Strike you know it’s a Void Knight.

This is very different from Ascendance in PoE for example where you cannot visually determine an Ascendancy most of the time

I have to name my characters by the build they utilitize (Oki-BleedCorsair, Saevok-HammerSmite) so I can pick them out of my character list correctly.

Yup, me too.

Well yes, if you can see that a character is using a mastery-specific skill you can tell which mastery it is.

Okay, I might be chronologically older than y’all but you definitely have me beat on brain age. :stuck_out_tongue: Even I can remember what each of my characters was just by looking at them in the character window without having to name them SMITEHAMMER. :joy:

I don’t know, there are a number of us here that are chronologically youth-challenged.

I don’t know… a sentinel looks like a sentinel looks like a sentinel. the only real difference in them might be the weapon. And, many times, the weapons aren’t that much different between builds.

I’m just going to call you Ol’ Pappy. And @Llama gets to be Uncle Grumps.

I’m taking the piss, of course. Just kidding. Yeah, the looks right now are pretty similar. But, once we can do more transmogging I’m sure this will change a lot.

Meh… If said skills weren’t lackluster then yes. This is like saying Shaman is in a good spot because of Earthquake or lightning totem or whatever ^^.

From what I’ve seen so far Runemaster looks boring af on paper. Maybe it’s better when played but so far 0 hype for that mastery.

If I see a VK using ES I ask myself whats wrong with him  but yes you are able too see what mastery is played… then again there are masteries that are lackluster and don’t use class skills if the players want to play an efficent build.

That’s the same with every mastery. It’s a hack and slash game everything looks the same always.

LOL
That means you’re not the oldest fart in the room, just an old one. :sunglasses:

Never said I was the oldest. I do seem to remember I’m older than Llama and Dire because it’s been joked about before. Which is why I was ribbing them about their old fart brains.

What were we talking about? I’ve blinked a couple of times since we started… now I can’t remember any of it.
