That’s to be expected, GGG didn’t design PoE to keep the player numbers consistently high, they designed it to let people play a league for as long as they want (usually tied in to specific build or challenge objectives) then leave for a while till the next league comes out so as to not burn out. I’d expect to see a broadly similar shape for an MMO between expansions/new content (starts off with high player numbers when the content releases and drops off over time until the next new content).

Good news. Somewhat disappointing the game has been out on Steam since April 30, 2019 (over 2 years) and still doesn’t even have multiplayer. I fear many people will be burned out of the game before you even release it, but who knows. This game is fantastic, but personally I haven’t played for over a month - just waiting on new content. Looking forward to big updates - hopefully soon.
