Rive - Indomitable Node question

The node creates a wave that deals physical damage… What tags does it have? If it’s suppose to be a melee tag it is not.
These types of Clarifications in nodes that add effects/procs/triggers that are unique to that node are lacking. There are other nodes that produce effects that have no information on tags/scaling. I hope this is an issue you guys are aware of and are working on.

Thanks!

Usually extra effect like this have no tags of it’s own. Unless otherwise stated.

There are already alot of examples were nodes like that have informations about those extra effects are described in the nodes tooltip. If there are no additional informations, usually those extra effect are not a completely seperat skill and don’t have their own tags.

So for your example only % physical damage would affect the wave.

But of couse more clear tooltips are definitely a thing they working on.

They do all have tags they just often aren’t mentioned. That node may also have a melee tag.

From my experience they do not have any tags, especially skills that are not treated as individual skills like this one.

Other similar skills have that white underlined highlightng, which this one does not have.
It might be because the node is older, i don’t know.
I just know even some of the oldest nodes from other skills that do have their own tags have some form of information about it.

This specific node for rive i know only scales with %physical. It’s not melee nor throw.

If the secondary affects don’t have any tag, they don’t scale with anything.

thanks that what I determined from testing it.

I agree, this is an area where the tooltips could use some improvement. A good example is how shadow daggers just got several tags in the latest patch, but there is no way for the player to know (and therefore know how to properly scale it) unless they read the patch notes or know how to data mine the info.

It says on every tooltip of Shadow Daggers that increases to Physical damage affect it and it always crits, its actually more confusing now that the skill inherits tags from say Melee or Ranged - Puncture is tagged as Melee and Bow…does Shadow Daggers double dip from both sources of increased damage if used from Puncture? Smoke Bomb can proc Shadow Daggers and so can Shift, based on the design Shadow Daggers should be far weaker being proc’d from Shift/Smoke Bomb. Havent tested it though

I’d imagine it inherits the tags that Flurry uses when it procs Shadow Daggers (ie, melee if used with a melee weapon or bow if used with a bow).

I ninja edited, but I meant Puncture. When using Puncture regardless of wep equipped it has Melee/Ranged tags, if the skill is actually reading off that alone then technically it may work

I would imagine if theres say a Fire skill and you convert it to Cold it wont keep the Fire tag or now Fire will scale your cold hit

Yeah, the answer would still be the same. If Flurry/Puncture/etc know which tags to use based on the equipped weapon, why wouldn’t that be inherited by Shadow Daggers?

The shadow dagger tags were data mined by Dammit. They are: physical, melee, spell, throwing attack.

I meant this though -

it stated since Rogue release it scaled off physical and always dealt crits, now it also says it inherits the tag from the skill Shadow Daggers originates from which Puncture has Bow/Melee tag which would potentially imply if you are proccing Shadow Daggers with a melee attack your Bow% will scale the damage as its tagged as both - thats how tags work in PoE and I assume its a borrowed system - so if you have a skill with a ‘Projectile’ and ‘AoE’ tag then both those damage types scale the skills damage

Shadow Dagger is Physical, Melee, Throwing and Spell. Bow damage won’t increase Shadow Dagger damage.

Yes, if you have two tags then both of those damage types will scale the skill’s damage. Note though that most of the sources of damage you’ll get are “increased” and all of the damage you get from increased is added to a general pool, so these won’t multiply off of each other (unless the damage source says “more”) and they also won’t double dip.
