Rift beast placement

Hi EHG,

First of all, thanks for all the hard work on Season 3 — it’s been an exciting experience so far. I wanted to share some feedback specifically regarding the Rift Beast mechanic in the Monolith.

Currently, the main issue is that the Rift Beasts don’t show up on the minimap or map until you get very close to them. Since Monolith maps are often non-linear, it’s easy to completely miss the Rift Beast while completing the main objective. Most of the time, I finish the objective and only find the Rift Beast much later (if at all), which feels like wasted time since the map is technically already done.

Here are a few suggestions that I believe could improve the experience:

  1. Add a directional marker pointing toward the Rift Beast, similar to quest objectives.
  2. Spawn the Rift Beast near the Monolith objective, so players are naturally guided to it during normal progression.
  3. Place the Rift Beast early in the map, so players encounter it before finishing the main objective.
  4. Guarantee a 100% spawn chance for the Rift Beast in every Monolith map, so that players know it’s always worth exploring even after completing the objective.

Any of these changes would help reduce frustration and make hunting Rift Beasts feel more rewarding and intentional.

Thanks again for reading, and keep up the great work!

Best regards,
Ryad

That is not true, they are shown from any distance. When you use the overlay map fully zoomed out you can see them from very very far away.

Every single suggestions here is exactly the opposite of what LE needs right now.

LE needs incentives to not only rush echo objectives.
We need reasons to look around and clear more.
Mechanics should never spawn guaranteed so it’s more exciting when you encounter them.
When mechanics are guaranteed they get tiresome. Make them rarer but very rewarding so it feels great when you find them.

i’m talking as a casual player, and not as streamer or someone who has infinit time playing the game, i kinda play like 2/3 hours per day so as i said it’s frustrating that i can’t play this beautiful mechanic they add

Are you sure? I’m fairly certain that when I enter an echo there isn’t an icon on the map and only when I get close does it show.
I use the map in the center of the screen, so it’s fairly easy to notice these things.

It might be an offline thing, though.

The problem is that Rifts aren’t a “seasonal mechanic”. They’re a core mechanic. They’re equal in importance (and frequence) as Nemesis, Tombs or Mages.
So they can’t be guaranteed to show, much like Nemesis aren’t, or any other type of encounter.

Because it’s a core mechanic, and not a seasonal one, next season we’ll have Rifts like in this season, with the same frequence rate.

You can spec into Rifts appearing more often in the Weaver Tree and add random Rift Beast ambushes.

Also the excitment part of rare, but rewarding mechancis has nothing to do with being a streamer, hardcore player or casual.
All the mechanics like Exiled Mages, Nemesis and Tombs are already fairly frequent, we don’t need more stuff that comes up every 2nd echo. We need stuff that appears occasionally, but is totally worth the time doing and going out of your way to not onyl rush the main objective.

I don’t know if its ifninite range, but they range is multiple screen away and you can spot the rifts many many times way off the beaten path where you would have not walked on your own without spotting them.

Do you have the overlaymap zoomed out the maximum?

Oh yes, this does happen. It happens with anything that shows on the map, as well. It has a very decent range. But if you spawn in the middle of the map and run right, you’ll never see the ones that are on the left, was my point.
You made it seem like it immediately showed the icon even if it was on the other side of the map.

And yes, I do have my map very maxxed out, which is why I see them show up when getting closer.

As for the OP’s suggestion of adding a marker like happens with tombs, I’m kinda divided. On the one hand, I would like to see one for every interesting thing. Like I mentioned in another post, after you’re done with the echo objective (which is when most players simply portal out) maybe you could reveal all points of interest. This could incentivize players to not simply rush objective and leave, only detouring for stuff in the way.
On the other hand, this would disincentivize players that like exploring, since all they needed to do was rush the objective to have everything marked.

So maybe have the marker appear when you’re closer to finishing your stability bonus bar?

But I do understand why they didn’t add one to rifts like they did with tombs. And that is because you always know when there’s a tomb around because of the cocoons. But you never know when anything else is or isn’t on the map.

Yes and no. Sometimes you see them from afar but as soon as another objective is nearby and highlighted you see it ultra late. At least that’s how it works for me.

I like this personaly because it gives exploring at least a little benefit.

Sounds boring to me

Right now I’m in a “I don’t have fun anyway” mode and try to kill time with LE and explore every map fully. I had a Rift Beast spawn on every map.

Yeah if you have little time it can be frustrating to look for this thing when it’s cramped into a corner you normaly don’t go for. Then again even if you have little time the season is long enough to get stuff done.

There is no instant marker on the map and as I said above depending on how close it is to other points of intrest it shows very very late. I had a grave shown on the map when I entered it and said to myself “Okay explore and kill this critter.” guess what it was a standard AoD range down from the grave entrance and never shown untill I almost ran into it. Seems a bit buggy maybe? Don’t know, don’t care. Purely online btw ^^.

Not always no. Not concistently no.
