True but this is something that will change over time. They started with a completely diriculous ammount of time needed where you are even able to miss the drop. I think they’ll offer a better solution in a more meaningfull timeframe in the future.
I thought it would been way more lenient for gifting to friends id played LE with for a long (years) time, to prevent RMT to “add me to friendlist to trade me”
The part that baffles me is that it is possible to miss them, because they drop on the ground? My friend and I played together for awhile last night and they found one and I did not – but we are also often in different places, and I tend to leave instances the moment they are done whereas they are more thorough. The thought that I could somehow have just not seen this incredibly rare and super-useful drop and the designers are ok with that is… absolutely bizarre.
Also, the drop rate seems incredibly low. The concerns about RMT are not only prima facie ridiculous, but also: who the fuck cares? Why do I care if somebody else is boosting someone in what is fundamentally a single-player or small-group game? It just seems like a zero-impact problem. (Not to mention: ‘boosting’? Have you played this game? Do you find it somehow difficult to level/progress at basically maximum speed at all times until the end-game?)
why not having just 1 type of currency ?

Yea… adding to this mess, I have nearly 200 hours on the game, over 150 hours of that time is with one person in my party playing with me and me and him have NEVER seen a single obsidian drop and are consistently doing 400+ corruption monoliths with near 500% rarity rates and never have even seen ONE. This absolutely has to change, this just encourages players to do more Real Money Transactions (RMTs) and switch to the merchant guild. This makes absolutely no sense, we both have collected numerous legendary potential items that we want to give to each other but cannot do it because we have 150 hours and no obsidian resonance. This is just horrendous design tbh, idk if its intended but it has to change, and fast. The fact is, in this patch, people are punished for playing together in the observatory guild and the only logical route is to go merchant guild to actually have the possibility of trading.
TLDR: makes no sense that RMT abusers can trade anything with each other in seconds but we have to grind over 150 hours to trade one singular item. This is extremely detrimental to new players flocking in 1.0 especially.
ive done roughly 30hrs post game content with many friends and 0 obsidian resonances. we kinda just forgot about them/gave up on saving the constant 1 or mayyyybe 2lp legos we get for each other
Personally I like the trading system, but I think they need to remove Obsidian and just go with the Golden. I have gotten four golden and zero obsidian, but I have a weapon I have been trying to help my brother farm for days and he has not gotten. The drop has 1 LP, which isn’t even significant. I would understand if you specified it to rerolled or already crafted legendary items but items that maintain their drop integrity should be simple to gift to friends.
I play a lot more than my brother and he plays because of me (he does not have as much free time as I). Not being able to help him by throwing him a BIS piece of gear seems quite ridiculous from an online game standpoint.
If you don’t want sharing, play offline solo or games. The current system literally goes against the grain of online gaming. Online games are literally designed to play and enjoy with friends / family, which includes helping them when you can. It seems like grinding for an Obsidian is on the level of helping them move atm. It needs to change.
Yea me and my son quit because of this and the boring end game. Hopefully the new roadmap released makes the end game more fun, and hopefully THIS gets fixed if it isn’t already.
