I hope this post finds you well. I wanted to reach out to the community with a concern that’s been on my mind for quite some time now. As someone who values cybersecurity and the safety of their digital devices, I find myself increasingly anxious about the potential risks associated with downloading game updates over the internet.
In light of these concerns, I was wondering if it would be possible for EHG, to offer an alternative method of distributing updates. Specifically, I am suggesting the provision of game updates on physical media such as CD-ROMs or floppy disks, which could then be delivered via traditional mail services.
By opting for physical distribution, users like myself who harbor apprehensions about online security would have the option to receive updates in a manner that feels more secure and tangible. Additionally, this approach could potentially cater to individuals with limited or unreliable internet access, ensuring inclusivity within the gaming community.
I understand that this proposal may seem unconventional in an age dominated by digital distribution. However, I believe that offering alternative delivery methods aligns with the principles of user choice and accessibility. It’s essential for developers to consider the diverse needs and preferences of their player base, including those with cybersecurity concerns.
I would appreciate hearing the thoughts and perspectives of fellow community members on this matter. Furthermore, I kindly request that representatives from EHG consider the feasibility and potential benefits of implementing such a distribution method.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message. Let’s continue to foster constructive dialogue and explore innovative solutions that promote both security and enjoyment within the gaming community.
Assuming that this isn’t satire, and I really hope it is…
Given that your “increasing anxiety” is totally unfounded, my thoughts on this are that you need to seek assistance from a mental health professional. What you have are not “cybersecurity concerns”, they are paranoid delusions.
Steam is safe. The only updates that get pushed there are the ones EHG places there. There’s no security risk.
Sending physical copies would increase their spendings, since they currently don’t need to pay to update the game.
Not only that, but if you were to do this, whenever there was an update, you’d have to stop playing for a week, because you can’t play with an outdated version, since the server doesn’t allow it.
Lastly, you could simply be getting CDs at some point from other people posing as EHG wth malicious code in them, so probably even less safe than it is now.
So, I repeat, Steam is totally safe. You can be 100% sure that any updates pushed there are from EHG. Not only that, you can turn off automatic updates and decide for yourself when you want to download them. Although, as I also pointed out, the server won’t let you use an outdated version.
That’s what the lizard people want you to think. Personally I use RFC 2549 for my internet, it’s totally safe though there is a risk of some unexpected encapsulation of the packets by Hawks.
Since there are so many cheaters on the ladders we should send our arena runs’ data via floppy disks to EHG. That way it can be verified before being put on display.
