Hi all, immersion and selling a fantasy is a big part of the appeal of RPGs and when I saw there was a liche class, I was delighted.
The spells available to the class feel great and the blood, necrotic, poison, and frost themes feel on point, but the ‘reaper form’ ability is utterly disappointing.
I came to this game to play as a lich - a powerful undead mage - not the grim reaper.
The mechanics of the ability itself are fun and it feels like a powerful ability with a lot of utility, but the theme is terrible. I am playing alongside my necromancer friend and half of his minions look cooler than me, and in fact, I look like one of his minions, rather than a lord (or lady) of undeath.
Perhaps the ‘reaper form’ is named and themed so because they want players to know that the class itself is the lich and you don’t need to take reaper form to be a lich, but given you’re clearly a living, squishy human I find that reasoning unconvincing and unsatisfying.
So, please rename the ability and redo the drab visuals in order to better sell this lich fantasy?

It doesn’t have to be anything too over the top or ostentatious, but please I beg you: let’s do better than ‘the grim reaper,’ and let’s align it with the class fantasy?
