I don’t understand why there are SO MANY Xp nodes (and XP Shrines) on echoes for toons that are lvl 100 and got zero use for it.
Much rather see item nodes that can actually help your toon progress, XP is completely wasted and sometimes there is no way of avoiding that particular node…
Because the game doesn’t look at your level when it generates the monolith’s web; it just generates nodes according to their weight in the generation algorithm, your character has absolutely nothing to do with it.
You could use them if you want to try a new skill.
You complete the echo, respec your skill, grab the tomes get your skill around 20, spec your tree and try your stuff.
These are needed for respecing when you change skills and stuff.
They could also make it where experience tomes increase your rank in your faction at some point in the future, so depending on how ranking up works, they might also be useful for that.
If they started giving extra loot or something at level 100, I wouldn’t be opposed to that though. Maybe they could just give a chunk of gold the way regular chests do.
The devs are also looking at possibly doing something with the XP after you hit 100. I don’t know if it’s a paragon type capability like other games, giving a temporary character boost, or what.
Then just leave one XP or two per Monolith Echoes tree.
I know they mentioned they are looking at options, but would be nice to have then deactivated or replaced by useful nodes until they figure a way to utilize XP past the lvl 100.
If it’s a matter of weight maybe it’s as simple as adding an “If toon is lvl 100” and deactivate the XP nodes from being an option and roll the rest of nodes. And Shrines.
Please no. For those of us that like to respec and try new builds with Lvl 100 chars, these XP nodes make it trivial to reskill back to level 20. Without then its a slog of running more normal nodes.
A blanket decision to just remove these nodes is like throwing the baby out with the bathwater and to be honest, I dont understand why these nodes are considered so negative? On a fully explored tree there are PLENTY of other nodes to take.
Maybe have an option in the Options menu, or a checkbox on the monolith ‘master’ window that allows you to toggle xp echoes and shrines on/off.
Simple, don’t enter in XP nodes.

Please no. Just add some system to the game that uses the XP.
Then dont take the Node.
We are also already forced to take irrelevant nodes to get to the ones we want so in that instance, an XP node or a Rare node are, imho, identical in terms of useless rewards.
Obviously your lvl plays a part in what would be useful, but we chose nodes based on Monolith Modifiers irrespective of the reward offered because the modifier is arguably way more important in monolith progression.
And to be honest, other than Exalted items & Unique reward nodes (and maybe idols), the rewards on most nodes is crap anyway so the XP node having some niche purpose is better than nothing… Way better than doing a crap Rare node just to get to something useful farther in the tree.
