Reinstall windows and lost all chars

HI guys. I just reinstall my windows, than install fresh copy of the game but my chars are gone! What is the problem ?

All characters are created locally (On the users PC) until online play will be implemented.
The save files might have been deleted with your new windows installation.
Are you using steam?

Nope. No steam …

Jeez so i have to start from the basics now ? dafuq !

I don’t know how EHG launcher handles the cloud saves (if at all).
I suggest you try asking tech support about it.
hope you’ll recover your chars, but I don’t know if EHG launcher have cloud saves.

Hey, Welcome to the forums…

All savegames on windows are in DRIVERLETTER:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games.

This is true for Steam and the standalone launcher…

If you dont back up these files then you have lost your savegames - there is nothing online right now.

If you use Steam Cloud Save then you can restore the games automatically with Steam itself.

Obviously when multiplayer is enabled, then everyone will have local offline characters (stored on your local machine as they are now) and online characters stored on EHG servers…

They use Steam for cloud saves.

Depending on how you reinstalled your Windows, there is a slim chance that you created the ā€œWindows.Oldā€ Directory within your ā€œC:ā€ Drive without even noticing it. Idk if Windows 10 does that, but I know that Windows 7 did on a reinstall without a full format.

Inside the Windows.old directory, it stores a copy of your previous ā€œUsersā€ directory including your previous ā€œUsernameā€ directory and the sub folders.

It might be worth having a quick look to see if that is there. If it is, then you would be able to copy/paste your relevant previous Eleventh Hour Games folders

Oh, wow!
I don’t know about it, thank you. I’ll backup my char saves…

Awesome. Welcome to LE matey. You’ll find tons of useful info in the forums, plus a good community. For most things in game, the help system is actually helpful in LE and contains lots of information as well.

Until LE goes full multiplayer and characters are saved on servers, I always backup my LE folder to a directory I made a few times a day if I’m playing all day.

To be perfectly honest, I have yet to actually use any of these backups, but I do feel a lot safer doing it anyway.
