It is impossible to avoid the two tentacles that are constantly swinging. The sweeping attacks they do will always hit you no matter where you stand.
Players running low defense builds should have some agency in avoiding attacks, as good positioning and reaction time is their only means of reliable survival. And these builds should be allowed to exist and clear all content if they have the skill to do it.
This fight is literally chance based for them as they have to rely on % dodge being gracious enough to them the entire fight, which feels frustrating and unrewarding.
My suggestion would be to simply replace the sweeping attack, or reduce the rate at which the tentacles attack to allow room to dodge from one side to the other.
For context-this is at 1k corruption. I’ve been able to tank the sweeping tentacles up until this point, but now it’s impossible to tank and they have always been impossible to avoid.
I have tested both of these methods. Yes, there is a very small area in the middle where they cannot hit you, but you are still required to dodge Lagon face mechanics which will put you on either side of the battlefield.
I’ve also tested the stair strat, you can stand in the far bottom corner and the tentacle will not hit you, but you will get flushed out by Lagons AOE circle attack, and if the tentacles is on the sweeping attack part of its attack cycle, you will still be hit, as the right side of the stairs is not safe.
I do not mean to sound dismissive, I’ve just already heard people mention these strategies before and have tested them myself over and over. It still relies on RNG.
Also, I still believe this fight would warrant a rework if the stair strat did work properly.
If the fight requires an amount of weird cheesing where I stand in a corner and pray, it’s not a good fight.
Speaking of tentacles, while not the “offensive” ones, but rather the one that “closes” the area on the start of the fight. In multiplayer, that thing can still “block” party members from entering if one party member moves to the area while the others are still at the spawn point or stairs.
It’s baffling why they’ve never fixed this shit. I’ve reported this countless times ever since multiplayer update (0.9 iirc) and I’ve even provided a video but nothing was ever done. This is an online multiplayer game (by choice ofc), and I have no idea why this is not a priority especially in multiplayer where it takes only 1 person to mess it up for everyone in the party.
If someone ran ahead without waiting for others:
On 2nd phase, for some reason only 1 player gets warped in the arena where the player needs to destroy tentacles. I don’t know if this is intentional:
Some simple possible fixes:
Make the game check if everyone is in the platform before Lagon spawns and start the fight.
Make the game warp everyone in the party if one party member ran ahead in to the platform, then start the fight.
Put a device that a player can interact, basically “Start the trial” or something before Lagon spawns and start the fight. Giving everyone in the party to be on the platform in time.
Idk what’s so hard about this and how is this “okay” for years now to the point it has gotten ignored to oblivion.
Oh right, let me shit on that stupid boss too. Lagon’s tentacle on top of that concrete looks weird. It’s just there, no destroyed floor or rubble around it, nothing. It looks like it grew from the concrete instead of being it came from under.
