I am thinking of buying Last Epoch. And I was wondering what class would be best suited for playing with a controller? I read the feedback thread about controller support and it seems its good enough to be enjoyable. But some players also suggest some skills, mainly movement based ones is not great, making teleports etc target objects and/or not moving in the intended direction. Any tips what to play or avoid playing would be appreciated.
Any melee build feels fine to me with a controller, as does sorcerer because it doesn’t require precision targeting.
Movement skills and precision ranged shots are still too janky because they’ll lock onto destructibles in the environment instead of the enemy next to them.
I’d say go with sentinel for your first controller experience, and stay away from rogue.
Thanks for all input Yeah I am leaning towards a Necromancer. Mage also looks fun but I am guessing movement skills will be required to a larger extent.
You’ll probably have an easier time with movement skills on your bar as any class, but honestly, I’ve done fine without one for both sorc and spellblade.
Personally as someone who’s logged most of his 1k hours in the game with a controller, I’d say any class/spec that’s not reliant on auto-casting skills. Auto-casting can only be done if using Kb/m. If you set something to auto cast then try to use the controller, nothing happens.
Basically the more involved the build, the better it plays on controller. For example I have a smite void knight that has auto-cast on 4 of his skills, it’s super lazy and all I do is move/smite, move/smite. I use kb/m for that obviously because have to. Trying to do it on a controller with constantly casting 4 skills on cooldowns takes too much effort.
But then if I’m playing one of my marksman, I’m shifting around non-stop, and using several different bow skills that don’t have cooldowns. It’s just more fun on controller.
I see. I dont think I will be using autocast, it sounds really boring to be honest. I got the game yesterday and made a Necromance. So far its pretty ok plying with a controller. Having the right stick controlling a cursor feel a bit klunky though.
