either i really suck or there is a bug. my lich is level 35 and i almost cant progress anymore because im dying alot and my damage is terrible. my reap ability says it should be doing at least 1000 damage but its popping up about 20-30 on average. i was quite surprised at my inability to make anything acceptable as ive played lots of diablo and grim dawn which i consider fairly similar and seemed to do just fine

Will you upload your character to lastepochtools.com (go there, go to the build planner, and there are 3 buttons in the upper left, click the top one and follow the directions). Maybe we can help you out and see what’s going on.

This sounds like a “I’ve got a bad base weapon without flat damage” problem. You should absolutely do more than 20-30 damage on a mob. Maybe you have also devided your damage affixes and passives too much and are too much into a melee/spell hybrid
Reap is a melee skill as is harvest. Make sure you have melee weapons that have the highest bases (and so the highest implicit flat melee damage) and craft at least 1 prefix with added melee damage on it.
Uploading your build might help. It’s important to know which skills you use together.

To make it clear: The DPS tooltip is Damage Per Second. Not per hit. And it refers to dummy damage. You will have less DPS when hitting mobs than shown in the tooltip due to enemies damage mitigation that is not taken into account. It’s more for comparing DPS numbers with different gear.

Reap is a skill with inferior damage capabilities.
It only has mobility and defensive/utility values.
What are your main dmg skills? If it’s a spell you need a weapon base type with as much adaptive spell damage as implicit.
If you are using Harvest you need a good melee base weapon.
As washa3 pointed out, a build planner would help alot in analysing your character better
I think OP got jebaited by the underwhelming and often inaccurate tooltips.
By now the dmg estimate is a troll in lots of cases.
That UI element / feature needs to be more accurate ASAP so you can plan ahead and do slight tweaks to make your leveling and gearing process a better experience.
