This is going to be fun with Hollow lich. Put T7 flat + life leech on an item and that’s 200 or so total flat damage + 400% increased damage with a good roll. With three magic items that’s doubled for 400 flat and 800% increased melee damage.
I am here to politely request you run these descriptions through a spelling checker. Getting “its” and “it’s” wrong is not only a pet peeve of mine but it also just looks unprofessional.
The problem with that is that a spell checker wouldn’t catch it, as it’s not a error in spelling but an error in usage. Running them all through a spell checker is definitely something that should be done if they aren’t already doing that, but in this case it needs a grammar checker.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTGtMFcT-D0 this item would break the game as Lizard_IRL points out in his vid
Minion player, huh?
Quite.
I just double checked, and thankfully this has already been fixed during the localization pass, it just wasn’t in for the capture of the item card, sorry!
I adore this (reference for those who know), but for real such a cool idea. I dont care the numbers are over or undertuned, i just love the concept of it, and hopefully if balanced correctly it will be one of the best items in the game in the very endgame when you’re trying to go for T21 exalts, that would be really awesome
Okay in my mind rares can be T20, exalts can be in theory T28. If you can ramp up rare items you add alot of loot. If it just changes the rarity and nothing else who cares? If it is an option to get power even faster or increasing the chance to get that super exalted item things change. On top of it the next question is the FP cost. If it is an item that needs all FP so you can’t change anything and you need a drop then maaaaaaaybe. If this rune turned white bases in random Exalt items I have no issues with it. Dropping a rare item with a ton of FP that I can spin arround untill I have the affixes I want and then slam a rune on it that makes it the perfect exalt… I’m against it.
Sooner or later blue items drop that makes white items mostly obsolate, sooner or later yellow items drop that make white and blue items mostly obsolate and so on and so forth. Call me crazy but I think this is a good thing and a rather clear progression.
I agree, I don’t see much point in it myself, but
Non-exalted rares don’t drop with that much FP so if you had a exalted with rare-level FP, you’re unlikely to be able to do lots with it.
I agree completely.
Technically, rares can be T25 and exalts can be T35, with a sealed affix. Or T43 if it’s a perfect primordial.
This wouldn’t be possible. The rarity only becomes exalted if an affix is T6+. You can’t have an exalted with only T5s. As you clearly see if you use a removal and it removes the exalted affix, the item goes back to being rare/magic.
Technically they’re different things. Rarity is based on the number of affixes alone, exalted is based on the tier of the affixes.
The way we’ve been discussing this (as a rune) it wouldn’t be a perfect exalt. It would upgrade a single affix (chosen randomly from the 4 available ones) to exalted (either T6 or T7). This isn’t OP. In endgame you’re mostly running double exalted gear which this wouldn’t create for you.
Kinda, but not quite.
There is a point in progression where you’re starting to replace magic items with rare, but you can still pick up a magic item and craft it into a rare, which will be better than the rare that dropped.
The same can happen with common to rare.
The rune would just fill the gap when you’re moving from rares to exalts. I don’t think that’s too OP and it would give rares more longevity. Although it would still make them obsolete when you’re going for double exalts.
Like Llama pointed out, lower rarity items will drop with lower FP, so that is already a natural limitation to their power.
This would mostly help when you’re trying to get your exalted chest with +skill, for example. It’s not likely to give you a perfect exalt, but it can smooth your gear progression.
I’ve kinda come around on it and I see no issue with a rune that worked this way. It just fills the gap of when you’re trying to find decent exalts to replace your rares. It’s just another step.
Quite often in my character progressions I’m already filtering for exalts but I’m still running around with 2-3 kinda decent rares because a decent (not good, just decent) exalt to replace it just doesn’t drop that often.
cause if i tell about other arpg in poe forum with criticize poe2 fexample, my post can be deleted.
Poe even white items matter cause of infinite craft potential.
Yep, i solidary that exalted rune need to exist
i already saw that it’s op no only as lvling item on many vids. Yaiks
That doesn’t happen here. It’s inevitable to compare games in the same genre and it’s dumb to censor those posts. As long as you don’t become insulting, it’s all good (although that has nothing to do with naming other games, it’s just a general good rule to follow).
sadly, it doesn’t exist now, but it would be good as rare drop in future imho
Are blue and white items now have much less forge potential, and if they are so why?
For example… you drop an item with %crit chance and %crit dmg that leaves you with enough space to pick and choose the suffixes you want and the item is rare at this point. If you then have the chance to slam a rune on it to make it an exalt with the exact affixes you want this would be crazy. That’s what i ment ^^.
Sure I just compared the basic values without anything fancy ^^.
That’s why I wouldn’t care ![]()
If only one random affix is increased okay… then you end up with a bad exalt. This would last most likely how long untill you exchange it with a good exalted item? For such a little increase i hope the devs save their workpower on more pressing matter and keep gimmiky stuff like this in the back of their mind untill they are bored and have nothing better to do.
That’s why I said mostly, not to speak about using runes of ascendency.
But it’s not needed. It won’t take a week untill somone else wants the same treatment for magic items ^^.
At what point in the game and with a hom much narrowed down lootpool because you look for specific bases? I found myself in emp monos sometimes beeing mostly rare equipped because nothing realy dropped but I had no issues at all.
Come again?
Magic items already progress to rare items smoothly. It’s only the jump from rare to exalted that has a higher bar to clear.
I never filter for specific bases until I have the exalted affixes kinda like I want them on any base.
But some affixes are harder to find as exalted. This can lead to you staying with a rare item even when you’re already upgrading other gear slots to double exalts. This rune would just smooth the curve by creating a single T6/T7 affix. It wouldn’t create endgame items.
Yeah but you don’t need that kind of power early on as well.
Then again I see your points and your arguments are valid. I just don’t see the need of such runes and to my liking it would spiral player power out of proportion even earlier and faster. Maybe making it a rare drop on a pinacle boss would be a middleground to give the last old items a bump.
Yeah, I did say it should be as rare as a RoA. Especially when you consider that you have 25% to actually hit the affix you want.
Mostly it’s just because the gear progression is kinda smooth all the way until you try to upgrade from rares to exalts, at which point it hits a sort of wall at that point in the game. This is just to smooth out that curve.
And yeah, I agree it’s not particularly urgent to add this, but I think it would be nice to improve your progress curve.
Rarer. When I reach normal monos I normaly have 10+ of those. If said runes will be equaly common then all my gear will be exalted at lvl 50ish ^^.
Yes and no. How far do you get with rares? You have ample time to get exalts untill having rarers are the reason why you can’t progress anymore.
If there was a difficulty curve to justify said progress increases I would be on board instantly but making easy thing easier with this… nah thx I’m good
