Random stat question

So in game when you put on peak of the mountain and its like 280ish crit your crit stat goes up by 25-28 or something (cant remember) - anyways this guy asked about a 332% increased chance on hit to armor shred so I explained it using that knowledge “itll increase your shred hit under other stats by 30ish?” then some dude said “nah it makes it 100% and then it stacks so you get more stacks of shred”

Can someone explain how 332% increased chance on hit makes it 100% chance to shred but for a crit chance 280% increased crit chance it doesn’t become 100?

Was what I told the dude bat shit crazy? Also hope you can understand this Im hyped up on a ton of caffiene right now lol

This is where you got it wrong
Chance to shred Armor is not an increase, it’s a flat percent (with a + sign in front of it)
You get an additional 332% to Shred. That’s translate to every hit applying 3 stacks with a 32% chance for a 4th one

Increased Crit Chance (for exemple from Peak of the Mountain) doesn’t have a + sign, it’s a multiplier.
280% Increased Crit means you multiply your Base/Flat Crit Chance by 3.8

I guess my eyes must have seen it wrong I was sure it said 332 increased chance lol - thanks

so this page I saw earlier : https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/suffixes/AAwDgbEA

Under 2 handed spear (thats what it was) but also all the weapons says chance to shred armor on hit - so this is infact not a chance it’s a flat percent and the page is worded wrong?

A flat percent giving you a chance to do something.

Without making it too complicated - if it has the word “increased” it acts as multiplier.

On LE tools under the shard name in the table there are the words “added” / “increased”:

https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/suffixes/AAwDgbEA - added
https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/prefixes/AAzCsQ - increased

Thanks im not trying to stir shit im trying to learn as fast as I can for 2.0 so im not asking questions in chat every 5 mins lmao

love you guys <3

Don’t worry about asking questions, people don’t mind answering them, mostly.

As for your original question, there is one important thing to understand in LE and that is how ailments work:
Ailments in LE work with applied stacks. When you have something like “50% chance to bleed on hit” this means that roughly every 2 hits you add a bleed stack. If it’s 200%, every hit you add 2 stacks.
The damage is applied per stack (meaning you can have x stacks that deal y damage and z stacks that do w damage) and the more stacks, the more damage you make.

So unlike PoE where most ailments are either on or off and new hits just refresh the duration, like ED (there are exception where it works similar to LE), in LE ailments stack. This means that stats like attack/cast speed are very effective for DoT builds because they apply more stacks.

You should read the game guide about it, either in-game or in this site:

Especially if they’re worded as “what am I not understand here” rather than “no, you guys are wrong, this is how I want it to work but it doesn’t work like that so it’s a bug”.

Since you guys are already hereeeee… in passives when a skill has for example “throwing skills” and one point is 6% vs another set one point is +2, what is going to be the difference with added damage, I am assuming one is better? <3

Flat added damage is modified by a skill’s added damage effectiveness (if none is given it’s 100%), plus flat added damage is generally rarer so it’s more highly sought after. But ultimately it depends how much you have of both (the incremental benefit).

It really depends on how much you have of each. If you have a base of +10 and you add +5, that’s a 50% increase. If you have a base of +2 that’s a 150% increase. If you have +100, it’s a 5% increase.

Likewise, if you already have 200% increased damage and you add 10%, that’s a 5% increase. But if you have 10%, then it’s a 100% increase.

As Llama said, flat damage sources are rarer (especially for throwing skills) so they tend to be more important.

Sweet thank you! I ended up skipping both of those and scaled pure fire as it was much easier to pile on damage, ignition and dot after reading that which allowed me to take defense passives <3
