Random champions POE2 style would not be a bad thing

I noticed when I played POE2 through that random champions would spawn with random skills. LE should implement something like that instead of drawing from a fixed pool of pre-defined champs. It’s more interesting if you need to figure the fight out as you go.

Edit: I suppose they sort of do this already with rare monsters, but they don’t seem tough enough to be concerned about. Also, the rare monsters are very common. The random champs should spawn rarely, be random in skills, and tough enough so that you are concerned about dying.

erm… there are random champions spawning… they are called champions ingame…

TBF, he does specify champions with random skills which LE’s don’t have.

Non the less everything can become a champion from rats to ice geaints so things are variied a lot… aren’t they?

No, Champions are fixed. They have a unique name and a unique set of abilities. There’s only a fixed number of them and they don’t change their skills.

They’re not like rares where any mob can be “promoted” to be one.

No, champions are different to rares in LE. This is not consistent across the genre.

This can go right along with having randomly generated maps, instead of the fixed set randomly ritated or blocked.

Ramdomness it what keeps thing interesting. Just ask BF Skinner’s birds.
