Quick Question re: Bows

Hi guys:

Wondering how bow attacks are classified? Are they considered melee or throwing attacks? or a separate class? Need to know for using other items i.e.: amulets, offhands etc.

TIA

Bow attacks are Bow Attacks, not Melee or Throwing Attacks, they are a distinct/separate class of Attack.

Thanks for the reply. So they basically have no support from other items then? I have a stash full of amulets, rings, offhands etc., none of which support bow attacks

Yes, the affixes only occur on bows & quivers. Though the relevant damage affixes (physical, etc) would work. They also don’t really need it.

Thanks again. 'Nother question while I’m here: Spells vs skills. I have many items that support spell damage and none it seems that support skills directly. Is this deliberate? or are they the same when it comes to the items in question?

What do you mean by “support skills directly”? Something like “increased damage done by vengeance”? Stuff like that exists, but is generally only found on idols, helms, and chest armour.

The items say “increased cast speed with spells, increase physical damage with spells” etc. I have nothing that says “increased physical damage with skills” for example. So I’m talking about the difference between spells and skills. It’s not clear to me when it comes to support on the items in question.

Ok yeah. Spell based skills will have the “spell” tag on them. any skill with that tag counts as a spell

Thanks I think that clarifies it :call_me_hand:

You’d be looking for “% increased physical damage” then, anything that doesn’t specify spell/melee/throwing/bow.

Minions are an exception though, they will only ever be affected by stats that have “minion” in the name.
