For context, I played D2 for a decade and then PoE for almost another decade. I consider those the 2 best arpgs of all time. Really enjoying LE so far after 34 hours playing a shaman primalist, currently level 67 in monoliths. LE’s got great bones and I’m excited to see where EHG takes it.
The user interface, menu organization, and all the other quality of life stuff is top notch. This game feels super polished in that respect.
The combat and gameplay are very good. Better than poe. I have very few complaints here. For an ARPG this is as polished as it gets IMO. I wish movement spells were zippier on my primalist. Maybe other classes are more fluid idk. Something like Dash from PoE with 3 charges on a short cd would be amazing in this game. Other than that, I love it. I thought the game was too easy though. Either the “storm walker” build is op or the difficulty needs to be tuned up. I wore low level junk all the way to Lagon- never needed to craft anything until monoliths. It was alot of fun though. I enjoyed the whole campaign and I rarely play new games through to the end. I skipped all the dialogue but the time travel theme was cool (I always skip dialogue. Cinematic movies and cut scenes would have been nice.
The passive and skills systems are in a great place. It’s simple enough so it doesn’t feel tedious or overwhelming. And complex enough to keep me engaged in the character progression. Well done.
Performance is great on Asus ROG Ryzen7 + gtx 1660ti. I get some severe fps drops in ‘The End of Time’ and also meat grinder lookin map. Other than that it’s been smooth.
Loot: my biggest gripe. Rares are in a great spot with the crafting system, I wouldn’t change a thing. But I find the uniques/set items to be underwhelming. A couple of them seem interesting but most of what I found went straight into the stash. I’m just missing that exalt or high rune drop feeling- maybe I haven’t gotten there yet, we’ll see. Gold is pretty boring as well. Whenever I hit a wall, I’ll start gambling for better gear. But so far, I haven’t discovered any exciting uses for it. The foundation is there, but it could be better with more interesting, game changing loot.
Anyways, thanks for making a great game. Money well spent and I’m excited to see what’s next.
