Questions about Endurance mechanism

  1. Will Endurance mitigate damage when a hit deals more damage than your full health? (after all mitigations: armour, resitances, etc. except Endurance)

  2. Will Endurance mitigate damage when a hit deals more damage than your current health and you are ABOVE Endurance Threshold?

  3. Will Endurance mitigate damage when a hit deals more damage than your current health and you are BELOW Endurance Threshold?

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Yes
If you take damage, and go below/are below your endurance threshold, endurance mitigates damage.
Edit: If you press G in game, you can look at the example in the game guide

If so, and if I have 60% endurance, I believe there would be no meaning in investing health rather than endurance in most cases.
Here are the reasons:

  1. 60% endurance means 1 endurance threshold = 2.5 effective health

  2. Values of health (add X health) in affixes are same as endurance threshold. They are both (56-75) at tier 5. So the investment cost are same. The difference is I need to invest in endurance% first.

  3. There is an affix affected by health, which is increased X% health. But only when you have more than increased 66.67% health, health investment is more valuable than endurance threshold.
    For example, 100 health investment means 100health and 20threshold, which is 100 + 20 * 2.5 = 150 effective health.
    100 endurance threshold = 250 effective health > 150.
    When you have increased 66.67% health. 100 health means 166.67 and 33.33 threshold, which is 166.67 + 33.33 * 2.5 = 250 effective health.
But normally we will not have such high increased X% health.

  4. Less full health means quicker/easier health leech. I leech higher effective health with higher threshold.

So I believe when I have 60% endurance, I should invest all into threshold?

One of my friend told me if a hit deals more damage than my full health, it kills me instantly without Endurance mitigating damage.
I am not sure if it’s true. But if what he said is wrong and you are correct, then I cannot find any reason to invest in health if I have high endurance%, unless I have some skill that depends on my health.
I want to test it but I don’t think I can do it since I don’t know the specific values hidden in game.
