I noticed, that in the tooltip DPS in game, spells like Volcanic Orb or Ice Barrage benefit significantly from cast speed. But my question is, why?
Especially in the case of Ice Barrage, when the duration is five seconds and the cooldown is three seconds, cast speed will do nothing for DPS in theory. I have also timed the timespan between barrages and cast speed does not seem to influence those.
So, am I missing something here or is the in game calculations wrong? Because I am not talking about minor differences, I am talking about 10-20% more DPS.
I noticed the samething about cast speed. I suspected it had to do something with the frequency of the orb being faster (when giving it more cast speed). After testing it i didnt noticed anything but that might be me.
I really wonder aswell if it actually does something.
I think itās likely the tooltip just using cast speed a a damage modifier as it would for ānormalā spells. The only thing that affects the frequency of the shards are the frequency nodes.
Were do you base that thinking on?
I know that the frequency notes only do that, tried to figure out if it did something else since i didnt saw clear changes in the DPS. I need to see however that i need to test it more.
I just hope it works as intended.

Because the devs have said before, regarding a similar query about a different skill, I donāt remember which, that cast speed was being applied erroneously.
The shrapnel is a secondary effect of the skill after itās been cast, so unless it specifies that itās affected by cast speed it shouldnāt. The cast speed should only affect how quickly you can cast Volcanic Orb, which with most other spells would increase the DPS.
