So, im currently theory crafting a Warlock, and there is a node that I am not sure will work with this build yet.
Put simply, its a poison/aura of decay build which scales AoD with “Incipient Decay” node through stacking poison resistance.
This build is low life, so im wondering if the “Soul Barrier” node works at all with this in mind. It gives ward when a hit leaves you below half life. Does this mean the hit has to:
- take you from above 50% health to below
or
- is it just any hit taken while below 50% health, and the only limiting factor is the nodes 6 second cooldown for this effect.
Ty for reading and hopefully one of you will have an answer! <3
If you are at low life to beginn with you can’t be left low life because you are low life.

alright yeah, thats what I was assuming but just wanted to be 100% sure. Thanks for answering!
If you want to be 100% sure then don’t listen to the first random pleb on the internet
. I bet there are a lot of people who know the mechanics better and I talk from waht I remember about this. AFAIK nothing changed but then again when did I use AoD the last time?

Yeah, it’s #1. When you have these types of effects, it only triggers when it changes “states”. I.e., when you’re not at low life and are now low life. Or when you’re above half life, in this case, and the hit takes you below that.
And it specifically has to be the hit. If you have a spell that has a health cost and it’s the casting that caused you to drop below half life, it also won’t trigger. And the next hit also won’t because you’re already below half life.
But you are correct indeed, sir.

cool thanks, now i have double clarification I can ignore that node. A bit sad since its the only other thing I can find outside of AoD that can scale with Poison Resistance but ill live lol

Still it’s good to pass on the wisdom “Don’t trust the first thing you read on the internet.” ^^.

yeah ik I usually take single answers with a grain of salt, but my suspicion leaned heavily towards my first option, so it was more trying to gauge if other people had the same initial instinct as to what the node was implying.
I appreciated the response but was of course going to wait for more answers before finalising anything affected by the answer!

Yeah but you can maybe toy arround with the new lich nodes that stop regen at 66% ward and life. This could help solving the situation if you are not dead set on playing a warlock.

Sadly im pretty deadset on Warlock. I have a Lich planned alongside this already, its not a big deal, just thought it would be nice if it could work
