Question about "Increased Damage"

Hi, may i ask about “increased damage” option whatever from passive or gear.
Is “increased damage” effect to spell damage?. Because damage has two type: physical and spell, so if i play class that has both physical and spell, is this option boost both damage types?. And is this option boost elemental damage or necrotic or poison damage as well?.

Thx for answer <3 <3.

There’s several things going on in your post.

  1. All skills are grouped into 1 of a few different (mutually exclusive) ways how they do damage based on their tags (hover over the skill icon & hold alt) - melee, spell, throwing & minion/summon. eg, Fireball is a spell & therefore benefits from +% spell damage, but not +% melee damage. All skills (except minions) benefit from +% damage (ie, general/global damage).
  2. The damage type determines what modifiers to damage they can benefit from - physical, fire, cold, lightning, void, poison, necrotic. These are not mutually exclusive & a skill can have multiple damage types. It’s also possible for a skill to have their damage converted & when that happens, the skill no longer benefits from the original element but they do benefit from the new one. eg, if you convert Volcanic Orb from fire to cold, it’s now a cold skill & does not benefit from +% increased fire damage.

Modifiers that affect the damage type (physical, fire, etc) affect all skills (except minion skills, unless the modifier is % increased minion damage, in which case they don’t affect your character) if the skill has damage of that element. Shield Throw does physical damage by default (unless you convert it via the skill node, a passive or an idol) so +% increased physical damage will increase it’s damage. If you added some flat fire damage via the ring affix, it will then benefit from +% increased fire damage as well.

So to answer your questions, yes, “increased damage” would affect spells (since that particular modifier affects all damage the player does, but not minions).
I think you mean melee & spell, rather than physical & spell (since physical is a damage type, like fire), but yes, “increased damage” would affect melee as well as spells.

Hover over the skill icon & hold Alt, that will give you the skill tags which tells you what modifiers you can use to increase the skill’s damage.
