Question about incoming damage calculation

For the sake of my question, please assume 1000 health, zero for all resistances, zero armour, zero dodge, zero glance, 60% endurance, 600 endurance threshold.

For incoming damage that is a very large hit, 1200 damage to my 1000 health pool, does the game calculate that damage as:

1.) Player at 100% health, thus no endurance calculation, thus 1200 damage taken and you die.

OR

2.) Player at 100% health, the first 400 of the 1200 damage goes unmitigated, endurance threshold is then reached and the remaining 800 is reduced by 60% due to endurance?

Endurance is very good. Endure and survive, like they said.
Edit : A mix of endurance and health regen is incredible because the regen still apply normaly below the endurance threshold.
