Question about critical success crafting

Ok I’ve noticed that critical success will sometimes level other affixes instead of the current one you’re crafting.

Anyone know how this is determined, or if critical success are done in a different way? Was curious if you might be able to get lucky and upgrade a t6 or t5. Or even a t4 to a t6 if it crits the one you’re working on.

It’s random which one is chosen though it’s weighted towards the affix you crafted & no, it’s not possible to get a t6. It’s more likely to occur at low instability levels.

That is not correct.

It is exactly the opposite.

The more instability and item has, the higher the chances for a critical success.

EDIT: Heavy is talking bullshit

Dang was hoping there might be a random chance like that lol. Btw I found this out cuz I made a t2 affix and it leveled a t4 to t5. Super lucky if it didn’t put it 10 levels away from my current level lol.

Ty for the answer

I like the sound of that better. Seems much more player friendly in terms of risk to reward.

Exactly.

That was probably the intend of the devs.
Risking the last few crafts on an item, especially when it’s already in the damaging/destructive frature range can be quite rewarding if you really go for it.

I personally have very good experiences with critical successes, it does feel really good.

The only thing i don’t like about critical success is, that if they occur on non-priority affixes, it still makes the next craft overall less likely.

They don’t increase the instabiltiy additionally, but still the overall Affix Tier of the item increased, which makes the next craft a few % less likely to succeed.

Nope, I’ve never had any high instability critical successes, every single one of them were with a low instability.

not my experience, I’ll either get crit on 1/2 first tries or not at all, source: hundreds and hundreds of crafts, 50+ CS

That’s not intended and will be fixed soon, probably next patch

I can’t find the source,… i was so sure one of the devs did say it was higher when an item has high instability, but i just checked back and yes, it’s actually higher, when Instability is lower… which gives you a early boost on items…

Both ways have their advantage, but i would like a more risk/reward approach.
