Quest echoes feel bad

I am about to quit the season and just feel like sharing my “Quit Moment”.

I was hyped to play the season. Last season was really compelling and deep. I figured that this one would probably be smaller, but it would still be fun. The developers are awesome.

The moment I decided to quit was as soon as I realized I needed to do 3 “Quest Echoes” for every single monolith. These are just not fun. I know that monoliths get most of the attention for being a poor system; but these quest echoes are easily the most egregious part.

I have to run 3 particularly tedious and annoying quests in order to get back to actually play the content I want to play. There has been a ton of iteration and amazing changes to the objectives of normal echoes in monoliths. There has been awesome advancements in personal decision making and custom targeting with the weaver tree. New and interesting loot from seasons is fun to target. NONE of this is present in these pre-set echoes that are very much not fun.

You could say that these quest echoes are an extension of the campaign. But, it is always a big relief when you get through the campaign and can actually start pushing up difficulty and content. More campaign after the campaign is something that just feels horrible.

I am not going to run 20 miserable quest echoes just to be able to play the game.

I’m quitting this season before I really started :frowning:

You only need to do 10 of these quest echoes. Just follow the right path and the first of the level 90 monos you complete immediately unlocks empowered ones, which is an improvement over the 3 you had to do previously.
Not only that but your alts automatically have the same monoliths completed (and even get XPs from it) and can immediately jump to the level 90 monos to unlock it.

That being said, normal monos have always been a slog. I expect that when the campaign is complete they will redo normal monos or get rid of them entirely.
