Quality of Life Ideas & Multi-Player Suggestions

Hello Dev Team,

New player here (only about 3 hours, waiting for launch) but some things that stood out to me last night I think would make good improvements for the overall average player (like myself):

  • When you go to Forge an item, if you leave the menu it leaves the item in the forge window and you have to go back and re-equip the item. I understand not every item you will want to equip, but if it was your equipped weapon prior it would be nice if that weapon auto-equips after you leave the forge screen instead of leaving it in the slot.

  • The game is focused around awesome loot and playing with friends is a lot of fun. I see you can “gift” any item to a friend if the loot dropped in that same instance together, but why can’t I throw items on the ground for them to get? Can you look at implementing a feature that can be toggled on and off to drop loot for party members? I understand not everyone would want this, but having to gift a bunch of items really slows down the pace of the game when with friends. A toggle you can set after forming a party between “free for all” and “instanced” loot would set this game really apart from others.

  • If you have a 1H weapon with an off-hand and want to quickly see the DPS difference with a 2H, you have to unequip the off-hand first before you can right click to equip the 2H or even if you try to drag it to your weapon slot you have to unequip the offhand. This feels like a bug more than anything, I don’t see why anyone would want it to be this way.

  • There should be a faster way to compare DPS of weapons and the impact on skills. Unless I am totally missing it, having to equip a weapon first and then hover over my skills to see the DPS difference feels like the design idea wasn’t complete. It would be nice if you could do an auto-summary as part of the weapon comparison and the impact it has on skills from a base-damage perspective.

  • Town portals. I get you can right click a party member and teleport to them, but if I open a portal why can’t my friends in my party see it on the main map screen to teleport to me?

  • Entering and leaving instanced zones - When you go to a new area, many times the character runs in place like the game lagged out or it just sits there for about 5 seconds making you wonder if you clicked the next area. I get there a lot of factors around this from latency, to server load, etc. but this is one of the more recent ARPGs where I truly have no idea if I missed the clickable area or if it is just taking a while. Can you look at throwing up a loading screen or something similar to how Diablo does it?

  • I am playing on a 4K monitor and I’ve noticed at times if you have multiple menus open that they overlay on top of one another and cut off information inside the screen. It makes it difficult at times to compare stats or use the forge as a result. Can you auto-scale the windows so they don’t overlap?

Overall, fantastic game and I really appreciate the effort put into this game from the DEVs. Looking forward to launch next week!

Because they don’t want to allow completely free trade which is what this suggestion would enable.

Once 1.0 is released you’ll be able to directly trade items to each other if you both go with Merchant’s Guild.

Because you can right-click to teleport to them? They can’t use your portal but they don’t need to…

Thanks Llama for taking the time to reply with that info, some of that is good news that I hadn’t heard. I still think at a minimum being able to throw down loot for party members that started an instance with you. I don’t see how this would disrupt anything in-game and it would make farming much more fun together.

I think it depends how it’s done. If it follows the same rules as gifting where only people who were in the same zone/party when it dropped can see/pick it up, then yeah, it probably wouldn’t have any impact. Infact it might even be better since now the other person can see it & it’s affected by their loot filter, so if they’ve hidden stuff then don’t want to see & they can’t see it then they didn’t want to see it in the first place.

It it could be done with any gear that you have at any time then that’s just free trade with the possibility of having your stuff nicked 'cause the other guy is a thieving arsehole with massive runspeed & can pick up your item then run back to grab his item before you can get it. I believe this is how trade in D2 originally functioned which is one of the reasons why D3 wanted to have an AH.
