Quality of Life and Build Diversity Thoughts

Been playing for a week now.
Played almost every arpg on the market. D2 for decades, d3 for like 20 seasons. Path of Exile, Torchlight, Lost Ark even. On and on.
I love arpgs. I love THIS arpg, Last Epoch. The connection problem ws there for a bit, but it just came out so no duh. Not a mark against the game.

I just seem to have a problem with noticing a complete lack of build diversity and I know why, but I have a feeling this will go over like a lead balloon…
But let us redo our class mastery, even just once.
Best solution honestly, is a toggle.

–hear me out.
—We have toggles for Online, offline, true offline, solo self found, solo self bound, hardcore…
so why not just have a toggle option for the ability to change your mastery?
Not your class, everybody keeps pretending like changing spec is the same as class.
I mean specifically, you shouldn’t have to spend hours, or days for some, leveling a new character only to find out that you just don’t really like it.
So instead of just pushing a button to change, you then have to go make a new character of the exact same class. that looks exactly the same with the same skills and everything…but then you pick a slightly different mastery…

We can travel across time and space and realities…but there is no way we can redo a choice of spells? other games like Diablo 2, Torchlight, Diablo 3, Lost Ark, Diablo 4, and Path of Exile, all of which offer reset or redo options of some kind. D3 in particular, the only good thing they did was let you be able to just change spells at a whim. It’s a game, its supposed to be fun!
Not waste your time…

I would like to emphasize that this lack of flexibility doesn’t diminish the overall quality of the game but is a significant inconvenience and just wastes our time.
So again, the toggle is the solution.
You can be disingenuous and lie to me by saying “oh but you are the only one who want’s this”
thats a full fledged lie and you know it. I can go on here and just search and find the hundreds, probably thousands at this point, of requests for the ability to redo our mastery.
Here. Reddit. Twitter. Even on facebook for crissakes! It’s not just me and its not a minority at this point.

I think when even the people who are streaming this game, THEIR JOB IS ARPG’S…and even they say this is just a waste of time…
Let me remind you, that their job? Is to literally waste their time, like we all agreed to, playing video games for a living. And the ones who stream games just like this, making their rent payments doing it? Even they think this is a waste of time, and let me remind you yet again…
THEY ARE GETTING PAID TO WASTE THEIR TIME. THEY BENEFIT THE MOST FROM THIS MECHANIC…yet even they want it gone.

Maybe that should tell you something, when even the pros say its too much.
People getting paid, and making more money the more time they waste, say this is wasting too much time.
Think about it.
Respect your time, respect my time, and be honest about it. What does locked mastery really add to the game besides the illusion of importance?
Make it a toggle. Then YOU can waste your time, WE can save OUR time lol, and we can all go back to playing the game and having the most fun we can.

I for one am loving the crap out of the Runemaster. No need for another Mage spec imo.
So Imma go do that and check back in every now and again.
Try not to be too off topic as usual. Be serious, aka don’t be disingenuous with thoughtless repeated talking points.

Come at this with solutions, as opposed to just “no, i dontwanna, mneaahh!” like half the responses on the posts on here lol.
As an edit and an aside…when you only have one gripe about a game, you know its good lol. Don’t think I won’t keep playing. lol over a small hitch with an easy solution that we can advocate for…

Or once you complete one character make a skip campaign and gain idol and passives toggle when creating a new character.

But apparently many disagree with me as well :joy:

Create another toon. First it want you to choose your class. When you’ve done that you see the mastery classes. So changing what you falsely call not a class is a class by the games definition :man_shrugging: .

Complete lack of build diversity? The fixes to ward-related bugs will go a long way toward more diversity.

Anyway, the correct place for this was where you made your first thread on the same topic. It didn’t get a lot of traction, so that’s why we get this one here in General. This one, soliciting sympathy for professional streamers is more like trolling.

Ty for coming at this with solutions instead of just a no lol.
I actually like your idea of just having some passives like your idol slots.
It seems rather tedious no matter how you phrase it, to not be able to just have some freedom of play.

lol what? ME mentioning that people who get paid to play the game are saying its wasting time…how is that asking for sympathy for them?
The point is that they get paid to play. They should be glad of having more of an excuse to spend more time.
Yet they don’t.

When you are getting paid to do something and you still think its too much time???

And you are correct, my poorly worded and poorly written first attempt didn’t go very far. That’s why its called “trying”.
You see, you might fail once…but you can try again by refining the idea. Just becaues you were wrong about something once, doesn’t mean you can’t learn. Failure isn’t the end of the road, its just a part of the path.

You come in here with this disingenuous nonsense, and then wonder why nothing ever changes.

I see a massive quality of life change that could be made and that people can opt in/out for?
Why come with NO, when you could instead come up with solutions.
I think it’s because I already listed really good, common sense alternatives…and you have nothing to add other than “mneah, i don’t like the idea”
But with no real reason why it’s a bad idea. You are free to have an opinion, obviously, but when your opinion is nothing more than a feeling? Maybe it’s time to take a step back and look at the actual problem, instead of letting your feelings guide your words.

There is a tiny change that a good chunk of the community would like to see be made to enhance the quality of life of the game, along with an increase in the overall health of the community as a whole.

Am I right about you, and you have nothing to add, Rocdog? Or do you maybe want a second attempt, like I did, to maybe articulate your ideas better?

AGain, I feel I have likely already covered all the key talking points people always bring up, but I am always open to more feedback.
Just try and keep it productive, as opposed to being all up in our feels.

For me the feeling was completely opposite, I was scared by the variety of viable builds.

All skills seemed to be good when playing as a Sentinel, I was impressed how Rive allowed me to change so much from one build to another, playing with or without a pet in an efficient way.
