Playing in a party and using the gift system is clunky when we have very strict filters just for our own gear. Having to add a few new rules for each friend is annoying, time consuming, and ever in flux. I think there’s a good way to solve this.
First of all, it’s opt in, not opt out. For most party play, nothing will change.
For those that want to find loot for their party members though, all you have to do is right click on their portrait and select something like Enable Loot Filter. This will be per party member.
What it does: First, all loot you see is still the same. It goes through your filter exactly the same. Even the hide rules. However, after it goes through your filter, it takes the subset of items that weren’t affected by your RECOLOR rules (so it applies on the SHOW and HIDE rules), and runs them through each party members filter in turn based on how ever many filters you Enabled. These will show up slightly more faded and dulled out so as to not distract the player and have a number next to the items name like [2][ Ivory Ring ] for the party member it corresponds to. Items that show up on multiple party members filter can get extra numbers next to them [2][4][ Body Armour ].
Dunno the internals of the code, obviously, so dunno how easy or difficult this is to implement. Just a nice QoL for group play imo.
This would be nice. Maybe the faded/dulled effect could only apply to items that were hidden in your filter - other items are recolored or shown as normal, but with the added number/other symbol indicating it’s of interest to you as well as other party members.
Been asked before, as well as variants of this. Wouldn’t count on it anytime soon. The reason we have a rule limit of 75 per filter is performance. Applying multiple filters would easily surpass this limit.
It would be nice to have, but I wouldn’t expect this until changes to the loot filter are made.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but LE is already buggy AF. Adding complexity for multiplayer, which most players will never participate in, makes no practical sense.
