So i have no experience in game-dev and I guess I didn’t think it was a big deal to delete remove-only stash tabs, but I guess it isn’t that simple. I wont launch into a whole rabbit-hole on the topic, but I guess giving the player the ability to delete stash tabs even from previous seasons would cause issues on the back-end for various reasons.
I imagine the with how the stash system is currently implemented EHG wants the player to empty the stash and then just “Forget / Ignore” that previous season from the dropdown.
If deleting old stash tabs isn’t a viable option what about a toggle to hide it from the drop down? It would make the player stashes feel less cluttered while also at the same time keep it on their backend. Right now I just have 2 in the dropdown. Release and Season 3 and it is already bugging me that its just sitting in the dropdown menu. I wish I could hide it.
I don’t actually understand why empty remove-only stashes aren’t deleted. It would certainly improve performance. There is no function in them staying there. You can’t do anything with them anymore.
You might argue whether you should let people delete them when they have items, but when they’re empty they should just disappear.
So I thought the same thing, but when I went down the rabbit-hole on google the reason why we can’t delete them is mainly because they are permanent account entitlements. Someone from EHG could clarify, but that among others is why they remain even emptied.
The whole migration process seems to be flawed (from a programmer’s viewpoint).
First, you shouldn’t have to manually convert your previous season favour/gold. That should be done automatically. There is a point when your character isn’t listed as seasonal anymore and is instead now a legacy character. At that point (whether it’s when you open the character list or when you login or whenever) it should automatically do that.
Second, the empty remove-only tabs have absolutely no purpose. They only take up space (both in the UI and on the database). They should be removed once you empty them and close the stash. Or at least when you log back in with empty ones.
Ideally you want people to merge everything (which, again, should be done automatically) and then empty their remove-only tabs so that when you open the stash you have nothing extra. No dropdown from previous seasons, no extra tabs, nothing.
This makes sense from a performance standpoint as well. I’m pretty sure remove-only tabs were the cause of plenty of issues we’ve had with stash performance in the past seasons.
