My proposed purpose for guilds would be to fill a niche that isnt quite there in Last Epoch- “group self-found” or “blood pact” (similar to poe private leagues/hero siege blood pacts)
features that could be a part of this system:
the ability to share items within a small to medium group of players through a guild stash (without requiring extended group play like in Circle of fortune/having access to the marketplace)
Loot announcements in guild chat for when you or one of your guild mates drops a chase item or that boss item youve been hunting for that sweet shared dopamine
Guild leaderboards, for things such as how many uber bosses your guild has slain collectively or your guilds highest achieved arena floor, able to be viewed either internally just by guild mates or able to be seen by anyone
These are just a few of many features or implementations that would be fun and exciting to take part in from as someone who plays an extensive amount of ARPGs
This was suggested many times around the announcement of the item factions & is a reason to not do it. It completely negates the need for MG and allows unrestricted free trade (something the devs don’t want, if they did, why the restrictions on MG) whilst also having all of the benefits of CoF. It would also be a very strong pressure for people to join said guilds because of the trade aspect.
You could get around that with some special “clan resonance”. Every X hours average (to be determined according to balance), you get one of those that let you place an item or take an item from the clan chest.
And if you normally group with clan mates, you get the regular resonances as well.
The only real thing that guilds could have in a game like LE is a shared stash, which, like others pointed out, is something that devs don’t want.
Maybe, in the future, we could get some sort of “raid bosses” that need to be completed by a large party and it would be only available to guilds. However, there are a lot of people that play online, but solo, so they would be screwed out of content, same for offline players.
Without shared stash or guild-unique content, the only upside of having a guild would be a dedicated chat, but that could be easily accomplished by inviting people to your Discord channel.
Mike has said on stream that they have no plans of adding content that requires more than a single player to complete.
But he also added that if they ever did add content like that, they would add some generic NPCs you could use to complete that content solo as well.
Fair enough. But I doubt a generic mercenary npc would be as useful as a real human. Even if we could equip them like we want and setup their skillsets, there is always a matter of kiteing, timing and whatnot. Even if we could control them to some extent, I just cannot imaging an average player doing it proficiently.
When exploring that hypothetical scenario, Mike did say it would never be as good as playing with other people, but that they could tweak the NPCs to at least make it possible to complete.
what about guild groups you can join if there is an open spot within your level range?
So if your in a guild and someone creates a group then you can join and play with the guild mates in that group if there are spot available
