I’ve had 3 instances today of being in an arena echo, getting a big framedrop/lag, and then getting 4-5 casts of Ring of Shields at once from this passive. I have no idea if it’s actually a bug happening, or if i’m just incredibly lucky, and I have no idea how to duplicate this issue.
I’ve not got above 1 proc of this before it runs out in any other content today (many many echos), only in arena echos (which to be fair does have more enemies hitting me generally). But the most recent time I got to 48 total shields out (1 normal cast, 5 procs), and my forge guard passive bonus at its highest point was between 50-60. I have 2 points in the duration node, so each procced cast is lasting 14 seconds. There is a chance this is just rng being rng, but the chance of getting 5 of those procs in a short space of time, alongside the coincidence that theres a framedrop/lag before each one, makes me think theres a decent chance theres something wierd going on here.
(And I definitely haven’t been able to duplicate this in anyway I could think of, I tried a lot, including trying to force the framerate lower with big pulls in case it was a wierd framerate bug)
Hey there… Probably already overwritten if you have restarted since, but could you post your player.log -prev.log from that session? I find that sometimes when you get an odd event like this there might be something in the debug log… long shot, but maybe there will be something to help the devs…
How do you mean ‘always worked like this’? It’s always caused a big frame drop/lag, and then multiple procs in a short space of time? 'Cus that’s kind of the definition of a bug.
There’s no ICD on the Shield Crafter proc, last time I ran a Forge Guard I could get up to ~30-35 shields running around me, I’m not sure that’s a bug. Multiple procs in a short time isn’t a bug per se (IMO) since the node doesn’t have a cooldown, the lag could be your pc having issues or a bug or something but your log files would be helpful for the devs to see if anything untoward is happening (a bug) or not.
It’s only got a 3% chance to proc, so it can definitely be quite spikey like that.
What I put is what I’m saying could be a bug as it happening in similiar situations in a way that’s relatively very different to other situations is either a major coincidence/luck. It could just be rng being rng, but theres enough similiarity (only in arena echos, only following a big amount of lag) that it could also not be rng, and it’s not something that can be reliably written off by us players imo.
If it’s always worked in a way that it procs significantly more in arena echos, and following large amounts of lag, then that would be something. If your comment is just ‘well it has variance because its 3%’ then sure, but that doesnt really mean anything to the specific thing I’m bringing up.
