Poor Performance in Immortal summit

Hello,
I have seen a topic related to the same issue but it was closed in January, I have a severe FPS drop when I enter the zone ( the immortal summit) from the citadel sewers side.

once i reach the waypoint and then relog into the zone, the FPS issue disappear. I tried to back track the issue and found every time i get close to the water at the entrance of the zone, the issue start happening.

Regards,

Mohammad

Welcome to the forum.

Certain maps in the game cause more FPS issues than others. Cliffs with long viewing distances, fire particle effects, water reflections and even grass or item density.

Usually if a system is already running hard (remember, LE is generally unoptimised and has performance issues), then these maps present as much more noticeable issues. Sometimes toggling a special graphical feature like shadows/reflections/grass etc can help.

Specific class builds (e.g. those with lots of minions/companions) can compound the issues on these specific maps.

Its important to understand that these instances can be just as much of a CPU issue as they can be GPU because your system is having to process these special interactions adding more load on the system.

You havent provided any info on your setup so its impossible to guess, but usually being more conservative with settings will lessen the magnitude of these FPS drops. The drops will not go away, but they will be less noticeable - i.e. someone on a high end 30 series 12th gen system will still get the drop but for them going from 120fps to 100fps isnt really that noticeable. Lower end systems going from 60 to 20fps is obviously much more noticeable.

If you are interested, the recent Dev Blogs regarding the upcoming 0.9 patch specifically address performance related updates that the devs are busy with - these should help with map specific performance issues too.

My bad, This is just a noticeable thing, which i thought it should be fine to just mention.

anyway, my setup DxDiag2022.txt (134.9 KB)

also game graphics settings are at low for everything despite me having geforce 3070 and core i9 processor with 32GB RAM and M2 nvme where the game is running.

i am new to the game, so I couldn’t understand the logs myself to troubleshoot further.

A 3070 should be getting fairly decent FPS in spite of the map issues - grief, I run a 1060 on very low settings and Immortal Summit doesnt cause me any issues (yes it drops fps compared to other maps, but nothing that bothers me). While I dont recommend running high quality myself, you shouldnt HAVE to be running on Low settings on that GPU unless you specifically want higher res/fps. i.e. you should be getting good performance generally.

You havent given specifics but I am assuming by FPS drop you mean substantial? i.e. going from 60fps to 10fps kind of noticeable? Not going from 100 to 80fps…

Perhaps there is something else on your system involved here.

Please can you add your le_graphicsmanager.ini & player.log files - these are the settings & game debug logs that might have something that indicates what is going on. The player.log will also possibly have any information on crashed/performance problems.

From your dxdiag I can see a few things:

  • Your GPU driver is pretty old. Please update this and install a newer version using a CLEAN driver process (dont do the upgrade install).

  • Double check your windows updates - make sure that you are running the latest release version (not the preview) with all optional updates that apply to your system installed and no failures needing attention.

  • I see you have the iGPU enabled on your system - Please make sure that the game is only running on the 3070. This can be confirmed in the player.log but you can also force windows to do it in advanced graphics settings or at the driver level by telling it to only run the le executable on the 3070.

Thanks for the feedback, I have made a clear installation update for my driver.
I am running 2 screens setup where the other screen is being run using the iGPU the game is run on the 3070 GPU.

While reviewing the logs, found the below error keeps repeating non-stop.

DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL ‘LogitechLedEnginesWrapper’: The specified module could not be found.

I have posted twice, but due to the fact it is related to the log, it is being hidden. I have performed clean installation update for the driver and i am running on the nvidia, the iGPU is used for my 2nd screen.

Player .txt (12.6 KB)

trimmed the player log file because it reached over 100 MB due to the repeating error u would see inside.

If only you had posted this in the OP.

A normal logfile shouldnt be more than a MB or two even after a decent playsession - thats the first sign of problems.

The repeated error you are getting is related to the RGB Keyboard Support. You need to disable this in the settings windows. This is a known issue that can cause untold number of problems - everything from the game slowing down, having bizzare stutters/fps issues to freezes and even crashes over time. On certain setups (notably Linux), this also can substantially increase CPU usage and hog GBs worth of RAM unneccessarily.

Please disable this ASAP. The log should then not have this repeated error.

Note: you may have to open and close the settings window to confirm the state of the RGB settings - it sometimes doesnt update without opening and closing to check.,

The main issue with this problem is that it can exacerbate or even mask other problems that the game is having.

thank you, i think now the issue has been resolved after disabling the RGB support from settings, it was weird tbh.

thanks once again for the help.

Ok. That bug causes no end of bizarre issues - not entirely sure why the devs decided to have it enabled as default. Would have saved a goodly number of bug reports/problems for users if they had not.

Touch wood, I would keep an eye on things tho. Just to be sure it wasnt masking something else by flooding the logs.
