Starting a new character after getting my Primalist to 100 and farming a lot of gear. I got a lot of stuff for Acolyte builds specifically. Question is which build to go from the items I do have (Poison Lich, Stygian Coal Drain Life Lich, or Minion Necromancer)
2LP Ladle, 3LP Stygian Coal, 2LP Shroud of Obscurity, 2LP Exanguinous
2x 2LP Phantom Grips, a ton of Pale Ox LP’s, 1LP History of Runeterra, 1LP Ribbons of blood, and other assorted minion LP’s
I do have some poison LP’s, but not a ton.
Question is which build should I start here? My goal is eventually Uber Aberoth, and I was wondering which build would be most viable in reaching him. Currently, I made a poison Lich that’s around level 35 (this was before I got my Primalist to end-game), so I can respec them into the other types.
Uber Aberroth is not a valid goal to set for just any build.
Uber Aberroth was created to be so difficult that only a very small percentage of players can ever defeat it. This is intentional.
That being said… of those builds mentioned a snap shotting Abomination Necromancer can do Uber Aberroth. I don’t condone snap shotting myself as I think it kinda borderlines cheating, but currently its how the game works.
You don’t really have any build defining Uniques besides the Stygian Coal. Pale Ox is disgustingly OP for anything that uses minions, including Combustion Shade Crit Lich, but you don’t have the other crucial items listed (Wrongwarp, Cycles, Exalted Crystal Skull, etc).
Minion Necromancer builds are numerous. You want Raven/Julra Gloves in general as chase items. Not necessary to finish regular endgame/campaign (kill Aberroth). Dragonflame Staff and Swine/Logi Amulet for Fire minions. Phantom Grip, Hollow Finger, and Cycle are other items that can piece together a minion build. Reforged Sinathia’s Resurrection on a double Exalt if you go for a recycler build using the Skeleton/Zombie recursion engine is an option. The WW Staff of Lachesis with +2 to Skeletal Mages and +2 to Necrotic Minions. You want a +mana slam on that for the max mana scaler node in Skeletal Mage tree. You can also go with a Chaos Bolt build using Revolution to grant your Skeletal Mages even more flat spell damage. This mana stacking will scale you even more if you get a Seed with LP.
Just know if you want to play minions you need to use the minion command bind to micro your minions by moving them out of bad positions and repositioning. They do not play the game for you.
Avoiding Acolyte minion builds in LE save your gaming life from a lot of frustration. My tip: stay away from them. Unless you want play Forge Guard, this on is okish but it is not “real old school” minion build. The rest from the acolyte is just meh for now Just my humbled opinion in the topic
Unfortunately Stygian Coal was silent nerfed sometime recently and so it’s no longer a valid build. Nobody knows if it’s just a bug that will be fixed, but for now it doesn’t work correctly.
As for minion necros, as someone mentioned the only build currently that can tackle Uber is a snapshotting Abomination build. Personally I hate the playstyle of it and it’s only a lategame build (not good for levelling). I loved playing a minion “zoo” build with wraiths, zombies, and mages that explode skeletens. I personally think it’s one of the fastest levelling builds in the game and it’s super fun. . . but unfortunately can’t get past 300 corruption because the minions die way too easily. I switched to Wraithlord and that can handle up to about 800 corruption easily and destroyes regular Abby. . . but unfortunately it’s too fragile to take on Uber.
I don’t have any experience with Poison Lich so sorry I can’t give you any insight there. . .
I have never seen EHG silent nerf anything, so whatever it is is likely a nerf (EDIT: I meant bug).
When they nerf something, they include it in the patch notes, always.
It might be a bug, or just an unintended change to how drain life works, but in any case the “bug” nerfed the stygian coal to the point where it is no longer viable.
Basically, before you could take the node where it changes the skill from channeled to cast, and then cast it several times and the effect would stack with each cast. Now though you can only cast it once, and any further casts just refresh it and it no longer stacks.
No build in the Acolyte class has reliable Uberroth capabilities without very very high personal skill. The defensive measures comparatively to a Sentinel or the offensive ones comparably to a Heartseeker Rogue aren’t simply present.
If you lower your expectations though… a very comfortable build is the Minion Necro. I haven’t personally tried out the other 2 yet, so I sadly can’t make a comment.
The major issue with minions is the poor bossing capabilities since minions tend to die off by tanking basically everything all the time. Only general farming and gameplay is relatively enjoyable with them.
