Well i actualy play a Spellblade because to me it looks like this mastery is dead in the water without a lot of work and proper gameplay so I thought it might be a change of pace vs my Ghostfire Warlock who outwards Lagon Eyebeam by a ton without even using buged mechanics. So far my respect for the game is equaly to the balnce of the game, it’s simply not there.
You have to look at it from the perspective of someone who isn’t vastly overgeared in the content they are playing in. The poison effects are very powerful and a cleanse is a strong counter versus poison application. When you activate the shrine, you are standing in the melee range of the scorpions when they spawn.
The thing that annoys me about Spellblade is that you have to go through all this work to make shatter strike work. Meanwhile other masteries have such fluidity in their skills they can just focus on making everything else around their character work before they start cooking in the kitchen.
I do. I typically run around in very low gear until I can be arsed to spend the few minutes setting up a loot filter & then wait for a long time for gear with 2 of the affixes that I want to drop. I am never “vastly overgeared”.
The base is 28 damage over 3 seconds with a -2% poison resist modifier. Unless he’s rocking some massive amount of corruption &/or damage modifiers, I don’t see how 112 damage (modified by the aforementioned corruption) over 3 second is going to chew through 1.8k hp. I have never noticed taking damage from them before they died & I don’t do meta builds, just ask anyone who’s been around here for long.
Not only this. With other classes I spam 40 mana cost spells that actualy do dmg left and right and have 0 mana issues and with SB I run dry after 2 seconds if I’m unlucky with my proccs. On top of that other classes are bombarded with defensive options and attributes to no end and SB is completely shafted. I said for a long time Shaman needs an overhaul but right now it looks like SB needs an overhaul far more. Then again you can do some VERY intresting things with SB but I think only a small pecentage of SB players will even make use of those. On top of it you need to dodge everything at a certain point because your wards buildup is nice but somehow the devs forgot that retention is a thing as well.
Welp looks like another lowlife ward build ^^.
Yeah that’s true… even if he trys.
Just kill them as they spawn. Being ranged is still pretty effective. If I get debuffs, I cleanse them. It’s pretty straightforward.
Being ranged is irrelevant for that particular encounter as you said earlier, and I play melee as much as ranged (rarely minions though).
Either the OP was being a trifle, economical, with the truth or, I don’t know what 'cause I really can’t see any scenario where those scorpions are a challenge, unless you’re at several thousand corruption.
And yes, I do just kill them as they spawn, why would you not? Do you want to wait for them to start hitting you? Are you waiting for an invitation from Queen Elizabeth (either I or II, you’ll be waiting a while) herself to start?
The OP isn’t the only one I’ve heard with this complaint. There are some things that do alot of DoT dmg. The alpha wolf bleed, the poison boomerang guys and there’s some ignite that can be annoying. And then there’s frostbite, marked for death, armor shred, non-physical shred effects that are all countered by cleanse.
The main issue is that when people play an ARPG, they aren’t used to looking at their debuff row and cleansing themselves like some MMO priest. So yes, a lot of people are gonna complain about being magically one shot offscreen when they just died from dots XD.
Yeah but still this can’t be true for all of them. I brute forced my way into emp monoliths when I started to reaise I have still lvl 13 gear on my toon in 5 slots. I was never oneshot or had ailments on my toon I needed to cleanse. I’m not a pro player or have awesome reflexes or hand to eye coordination instead I get old and I’m very lazy because it’s just the beginning of the endgame and not that terrific. I walz through everything and dont give a frick while running it down.
I just don’t get it for real it can’t be that hard and I want to know why it is for some people. I have a friend who dies in emp monos again and again I can’t tell why because his defences are good, his hp is high, some ward is there to begin with and still he falls over out of the blue every now and then. I just don’t get it and to me this sounds surreal honestly I’m just completely confused and ask myself: How? Why? From what? Sadly I don’t have answers.
Is anyone of you folks who fall over by whatever playing Necro by any chance?
You can brute force your way through a lot of things depending on the build strength / OP factor of the class. The moment that the stat requirements catch up to the build strength is when people realize they have to do things. And if the stat requirements are much higher than the build strength there isn’t much you can do.
Endless arena is boring as heck, but its a good way to test how much corruption the character can normally handle though.
Haven’t touched arena in a while because it’s a stupid game mode and there is still no “Spawn all enemies at once!” button. What Arena wave is what level of corruption though? Never heared there is a correlation because Arena is just a different playstyle that is vastly different from running it down in a mono.
I found the problem.
I’m at 1008 HP at lvl 93 in EmpMonos since 80 and everything is fine. Ward is king ^^. (And hopefully nerfbatted to the ground)
I actually clear 210~c monos rn with 1750hp on my rogue. But I’ve stacked my defenses pretty high otherwise so. 100% glance chance, 50~% endurance threshhold w/ 60% endurance, tons of leech & life gain on birb hit, 1100 armor, 75% all resistances, silver shrouds. You can get away with 1800 HP, but only if you’re stackin’
Yeah, but none of those are 4 stacks of poison.
No, 'cause 4 stacks of poison isn’t going to chew through that.
I mean it’s still a problem though
Perhaps, though @LividLegends is correct, not if you’ve got lots of other defenses. My Falconer has just got to the lvl 90 monos & has 1k hp & I’m not getting particularly close to dieing (Lagon was fun though, I managed to Aerial Assault “over” his beam without dieing) without stacking defenses, but it is a Shadow Dagger build, so most stuff dies very quickly.
Endurance rogue best rogue
I’m starting to think there is a bug here, because I died once from these scorpions DoT and I’m also playing a melee DoT build (bleed). The second time I encountered the shrine I made extra sure to kite them and manage the poisons stacks, and despite that I ended up getting 4 stacks, drinking all my potions and still dying. I’m only level 80 with 1k health though (75% poison resist).
I’m reporting it as a bug because I don’t have any issue with defense except from these scorpions. There might be a bug where they profit from my own damage over time stat or something
