With all of the negative feedback going on, they decide this is a time to try and milk some more money from the player base. I thought being tone deaf was the problem. Blatant, blind greed just wasn’t on my bingo card.

No, I don’t think you understand the context. Yes, I know about POE 1 boxes. However, that was a finished game. The controversial part is that:

The game is unfinished. It’s still missing 3 acts, 5 classes, and a bunch of ascendancies.

They just got done with a nerforama that caused a lot of players to quit the game. Trying to milk the remaining players is pretty low rent.

They haven’t even put in a fraction of the POE 1 MTX into the game yet, which they promised to do.
This is just another example of being completely tone deaf. Instead of addressing the now grotesque amount of issues with the game and their “vision”, they have time to ask for more money?
I would simply assume that the people working on the mystery boxes and MTX are not the same people working on bugs and design changes.
It doesn’t take time away from those issues because it’s not the same team that does both of them.
Speaking of GGG greed, am I way off base for trying to wrap my head around the fact that they are charging for early release access? It will be a free game on release. It’s like…come into our restaurant for a free buffet. The free buffet opens at noon. If you want to come in at 11 a.m., it will cost $15.00. Huh?

To be fair to them, you don’t actually pay for the game. You pay for a pack. And you get the value for that pack, same as if you had bought it in PoE1.

Imagine a free game implementing more ways to get money to put back into their game, OH THE HORROR. riot been siphoning money from the playerbase for years, yet everyone LOVES them, I’m going to laugh when the game is perfectly fine and healthy and you’re still deranging out, gonna be comedy to see!

Guess what snowflake, mystery boxes ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY. It’s really not a hard concept to understand, you just want to be copy paste andy and feel like you’re in a movement about a game you’re so in love with it makes you turn into a psychopath with derangement syndrome.
Not only that, it’s a game in BETA. They should be offering free respec weekends, gifting players 500,000 gold to test their game and find bugs. GGG treating this game as a fully launched game is hilariously bad take.
It’s a half finished BETA game they should treat the players better so they help them fix PoE 2 and get it ready for launch.
Yes, but how the game feels with plausible gear/etc is as much a part of beta testing as finding bugs. But I’m sure you know that having beta tested many games given your clear mad skillz.
