PLEASE update lootfilter rules to allow selecting specific uniques

Hi folks,

I’m making this post to highlight one of my primary wish list items and why adding the ability to filter for specific unique items (similar to how affix filters work now) would;

  1. Vastly reduce the required complexity of loot filters. (And barrier to entry for making effective loot filters).
  2. Remove the ambiguity between uniques with shared base types.
  3. Significantly reduce screen clutter in the end game.
  4. (hopefully) reduce game performance impact of complex loot filters.

With 1.1 we received minimum LP filtering capability for our lootfilter rules. This was a great addition, however beyond highlighting the rare LP3+ / WW20+, etc. it doesn’t really solve one of the core issues of late game (especially CoF) gameplay which is the inability to hide or highlight specific uniques, especially now that 0LPs have new “potential” (pun intended) with the nemesis mechanic.

The problem is that once you get to end game you are dropping a very high quantity of unique items, but 99% of them are either not useful for your build, or just generally not an upgrade unless they have certain amount of LP (which varies per item based on LP level).

We basically need a way to say, for example;

  1. Show all LP4
  2. Show all LP3
  3. Show LP2+ of Unique A, Unique B, Unique C, …
  4. Show LP1+ of Unique D, Unique E, Unique F, …
  5. Show any Unique G Unique H, Unique I, …

Ideally this would work similarly to the existing affix filter rules where you can select the affixes you want from a list.

You can already “sort of” filter for specific uniques, but it’s very hacky and doesn’t work if multiple uniques share the same base (eg. “Phantom Grip” and “Ring of the Third Eye” sharing the same base type AND level requirement). But even if you do try to do this, it still ends up being a huge mess of rules that only partially work and won’t be an exhaustive ruleset due to the 75 rule limit. (I’m not suggesting the limit should be higher btw!)

My current filter allows me to hide 0 & 1LP uniques I am not interested in by first highlighting all high value / rare uniques of relevant LP levels, then hiding everything else. But it is not “complete” (due to the mentioned 75 rule limit) and far from perfect (eg. Phantom Grip and Ring of the Third eye being indistinguishable means most rings I see are Third Eye. It’s also extremely complex, taking me many hours to put together, which isn’t at all reasonable for the vast majority of players.

I made a video guide on the loot filter I currently use for those curious about the “required complexity” I am talking about; https://youtu.be/AHYlWE2vExE

This would be an insanely huge QoL change for the lootfilter. As OP said, it’ll make it a lot easier for people to just select a certain unique (or set of them) to specifically highlight them without having to lookup their base item types and required character levels to make a working filter rule for them.

There are also way too many uniques that share the same item base type and item level, which is just frustrating when you are target farming something, thinking you finally got your good drop, just to get disappointed by it being a different unique that will always show up under the same rule…

This change will also make MG much more enjoyable. Realistically you can’t pricecheck and then remember the prices of every unique, their rolls, LP / WW. Prices can also change every cycle and even during the cycle. I tried using a spreadsheet with prices, but as expected constantly minimizing the game and searching in the list of uniques was an awful experience. New players finding a new unique also have to remember the name, how the item looks, and what it does. A community filter would make learning the game so much easier for them.

I agree with the original post. I’ve got a very complicated Loot Filter that tries to accomplish what I need with unique items, but it’s not 100% accurate. I understand the developer’s desire to have us experience the feeling of excitement seeing lots of loot drop and sorting through it, but allowing for some advanced loot filters that experienced players can access would be a nice QoL improvement for those who play extensively.

Yea, and to add to that this would make unique filtering more accessible to less experienced players. Right now you really need to know what you are doing to make a proper unique filter that doesn’t have false positives / negatives, and it still isn’t perfect.

You can highlight specific unique by adding an additional rule to select subtype of it, for example mystic belt or praetorian belt.

I mentioned this in my OP, this does not work if the subtype shares multiple uniques / level requirement which is pretty common. It also means even IF you were to do this you are making a rule for every unique you want to show.
