Please release option to change server Global chat channel

As I was told
“Unfortunately, there are several global chats, and you can only see the one you are in, and you cannot change channel. Sometimes you get a channel with quiet people, sometimes you dont.”

I would like to suggest to release an option to see all the global chats and the option to enter any of them. Some players really love seeing the talk and chating while playing.
I will just quote some reddit post that was created a while ago, giving feedback about the community of the game.

"Community: DEPRESSINGLY QUIET. HOLY BUTTS. Level 57 and I’ve seen literally 11 messages in global chat. And i was 5 of them. I NEED global chat to enjoy a game, and i am gonna assume a lo t of this has more to do with it being early access that is so high priced (for early access) so teh community is probably itty bitty. I won’t be able to stick with the game if the glabol chat stays inactive forever, I just need other people to enjoy it. Even just to chat with (same prob with d4). Heres hoping!

I think he has a point and the game sometimes miss some important and easy features to give a first good impression.

I have no clue what is the devs intention on this matter. But there already have been numerous suggestions/complains from people who do not want to engage with chat, but have no way to disable it.

This of course relates to your request as if they put like 100 ppl in chat and 80 of those do not want to interact with chat. that greatly affects the experience of the 20 who want to.

Many people (including me) are also confused, that offline mode not only is not yet “offline” as the game still needs constant server connection but also wont disable online-dependent features like the chat.

I really hope EHG can iron this out for 1.0 release and give a clear picture of the available online/community features and how people can opt in or out of those as there is apparently a variety of preferred styles.

I myself don’t really see a point in in game chat. It’s a poor way to communicate compared to online forums and/or voice-com services like discord. So far the only relevant feature i could see myself using, is to share item’s in chat with people i would team up and talk to in discord at the same time.

Sure it will have use in the upcoming trade system, but dont intend to engage in that either as i dont like the resulting economy’s of those systems.
That’s what drove me away from Diablo titles.

Not being one for in-game chat myself, I do however wonder at this chat implementation.

As far as I remember from older dev blog posts, its supposed to be an entirely new dedicated chat system with appropriate chat featurtes & functionality - i.e. not the quickly put together in-house version from before - but I must admit that the current implementation leaves a lot to be desired.

Especially from something that is supposedly a commerical chat solution.

Havent delved through the logs or run some wireshark to see if its possible to figure out the vendor/product but it would be an interesting aside to see what it actually is on the backend. (for a wannabe nerd like me anyway).

yeah, Im aware about this issue, dont know why its being delayed…

this suggestion is good for both sides, as the ones who do not like to engage chat while playing their sessions can move to a more quiet channel (until they cover the permanent solution allowing players to disable chat).
And people who like talky places will be gathered together in the right place.

Please vote for it
