Please make "Play Offline" button same size as "Play Online" button

There is absolutely no reason for this button to be smaller, it is in fact pretty annoying. Please make it same size as Online one.

There is a reason: making people think (subliminally) that it is favourable to play online instead of offline. An elegant way of saying ā€œwe want you to play online but we don’t want to enforce itā€.

It is never in player’s favor to play Online if you want to play solo forever ; you have online specific issues + pointless lag. If it’s the case, make it bigger but keep the background gray. It doesn’t make sense. I don’t care how developers want me to play the game, i paid for it, i want to play my way.

Online mode is the ā€œmain gameā€ for Last Epoch. Offline will remain supported, but as someone with both online and offline toons, having the play offline button half the size of the play online button right next to each other, it’s not really an issue.

This just seems like a nitpick I guess, and definitely something that isn’t an issue for 99% of the playerbase, including offline players.

Sure, but how is having the button being smaller while still being right in the middle of the login page (directly beneath the online button) affecting your ability to play the game? How is it preventing you from playing what you purchased?

Did you specifically pay for equal sized buttons? How does this track with your own logic? Also even if you missclick the online button and go to the character selection page, the offline button is STILL there and it’s the same size as the online one.

This is a trivial non-issue.

Is there a source for this? Did the devs say that or is it based on your interpretation?

Well Last Epoch was always envisioned as being a live service game with cycles introducing new content and ladders, so it’s sort of like stating the obvious.

Again, I play both modes. I don’t have a bias against offline, I’m just a realist.

Plus OP is acting like having the button be smaller but still visible is somehow harming his ability to play the game, when in reality it just comes off as whinging just for the sake of it.

I never heard/read that ā€œLast Epoch was always envisioned as being a live service game with cycles introducing new content and laddersā€. So, for me that isn’t obvious, that’s why I’m asking. I can see that the devs definitely invested more resources into the online aspect lately but that alone doesn’t have to mean anything IMO.

I just checked the Kickstarter page and it doesn’t say anything about there being a focus on the online mode, quite the opposite:

Offline and online multiplayer action

This is from the feature list. Both modes are presented equally. And then there’s also the more detailed ā€œOnline and Offlineā€ section:

We know that many people really want to either play offline or online and not having your preferred play mode available could make a game unplayable. We want you to be able to play the way you want and with the people you want. We are building Last Epoch with cooperative and competitive online multiplayer, offline single, and LAN support. Form a party of up to five players online to take down the biggest baddest monsters in the timeline or face the terrors alone. The online experience will be crafted to prevent cheating of all sorts.

There’s no ā€œbutā€, no asterisk, no brackets containing exceptions, no nothing of that sort. I also don’t remember the devs talking about having a focus on the online mode in the forums over the years. Maybe I skipped one of their posts where they mentioned that or I simply forgot about the existence of such a statement. If so, please make me aware of it. Thanks.

What makes you say that?

The real question is, why would a request for a small, logical thing that should have been there in the first place bothers you? Why do you take your time replying here, contributing nothing and defending something that absolutely harms no one and assuming 99% of playerbase is fine with it? Why are there always people like you i’ll never understand.

The rest of your comment is absolutely childish that it doesn’t need more comments.

Its because that’s right. But there are always people like Nevieth who likes to get offended/triggered over everything and like to assume that 99% of playerbase are with them for reasons coming from his gluteus maximus.

This is the most idiotic question i’ve heard, clearly showing the argument capabilities of this person.

Let’s not take personal shots at others, okay?

My point was simply that you were claiming – or had worded your comment – lIke you could not play what you paid for because the offline mode button was ever so slightly smaller than the online mode button. The point was that it’s such a trivially small issue that it’s just you whinging.

You must not have read literally anything I wrote, because someone else asked me the same question and I answered it already.

Last Epoch has been marketed as a cycle based competitive-ladder pushing ARPG with multiplayer and co-op in mind from the start. What makes me claim that online is the main game? Well, they did purposefully make the big ol’ ONLINE button bigger. That sort of says it all.

It doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is your condescending attitude and this sense of entitlement like EHG owes you a bigger button even though it does not matter. That’s the point – it’s so trivial it does not matter. Sure, EHG can make the button bigger, but you didn’t pay for a bigger button, you’re not entitled to it. lmao

Public forum, innit?

My contributions speak for themselves. Just because I disagree with you in thinking a bigger button warrants its own suggestions thread doesn’t mean I’ve made zero contributions here. The point of the smaller button is because EHG wants people to play online, but offline is an option. They make more money from online. They push ladders on online. Online is where the main focus of the game is going. Offline is there for you and ME who play on it, but online is where EHG’s focus is right now.

Well I’ve seen hundreds of threads in this section and on Reddit and I’m pretty confident in saying you’re the only one who thought this issue warranted a new thread.

Like we’ve got actual bugs and things needing to be suggested. This is a non-issue. If they keep the button the same, okay. If they change it to match online? Also okay.

If you can’t take opposing viewpoints then don’t post on a public forum, maybe? Oh, you just think I’m being useless and contrarian though, right?

ā€œChildishā€.

Grow up.

You’ve spent your entire reply to me being ā€œtriggeredā€ that I so much as dared to have opposing views from you on this subject. Let’s not have the pot call the kettle anything, alright?

Again, just childish. The irony.

Actually, they should make the Offline big, and the Online small, until online is playable.

By playable, I mean supports my 93 characters.

That’s not quite the same thing.

Though I’d agree that its a bit odd if the buttons are different sizes.

If you can’t hit the button, how are you going to hit the mop?

Giggidy

Again, where does this come from? What marketing and ā€œstartā€ are your referring to? The Kickstarter campaign? If so, did you read what I’ve written before?
I also checked both the Steam page and all articles on this very website. Nothing on them indicates that the game has an online/multiplayer focus.

You make all sorts of assertions I was unable to validate and you also don’t provide proof. So, is this just your interpretation of certain things (I can’t comprehend) or imagination of how things should be in your opinion, a fictional narrative to base your arguments upon?

ā€œMobā€, short for ā€œmobile/movable objectā€. You’re welcome.
