Offline comes with the intense perk of being lag free. With CoF for many of us online is dead anyway and may often be a “yet uneducated” choice.

I think this way is something requested quite a few times and it is not completely unreasonable.
But one thing I want to point out, because I feel like many people have the wrong impression of CoF.
As CoF you can still have other player interaction, both with MG player and other CoF players.
So CoF is not automatically solo/offline.
But solo players naturally will be CoF

Will you get factions offline though? Obviously you can’t join MG offline. So are you automatically CoF offline? Or are factions considered an online thing and you won’t get them offline?
You have factions in offline yes.
Theoretically you could even join MG offline. Not sure if they devs plan to implement something that prevents choosing MG in offline.
Mike said that you can technically join MG as offline player, but that doesn’t have any benefit

True, but it will probably be like in PoE where player interaction is 99.9% trade, which CoF makes obsolete.
Chat is available in offline, too, so online mode will only be a lag generator for a large part of the playerbase.
How much player interaction you want is up to you. I just wanted to clarify that CoF does not equal solo.
With 1.0 Offline will be true offline (which is not the case right now).
No chat, no leaderboards, nothing that I tracts with other players

Well, but i can see some people can set extra goals by that - for maxing it out (and don’t profit from higher droprates if you want some extra grind).

I’m pretty sure, but that is a very long time ago but maybe you might find it if you dig through, that devs mentioned / considered / planned that already as a thing that you can copy your online-character as an offline chracter (obviously for safety reason not the other way around)… and it would be quite a strong feature which can encourage people maybe also play some online-characters as well…
