PLEASE Improve the Loot Filter

People don’t think logically like the loot filter operates - in a sequence of exclusive steps, each one knocking out (/showing) a subset of items until nothing is left. This “simpliciity” makes the loot filter far too complicated for me to use successfully.

I have spent about 1000 hours in this game, a substantial portion spent wrangling filters in an attempt to have the result match my intentions.

Adding OR (example allowing subtypes of differing items) would allow the filter logic to match players’ logic and the implementation of filters would be so much easier. And there are other good ideas in the forum.

As it is, I am tired of fighting the filter to end up with what I don’t want. Over the years this has created frustration to the point where I don’t play - merely to avoid the filter.

I find the filter very intuitive. I start by hiding everything, then adding rules for the stuff I want to see. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I don’t think adding OR is a bad thing, but I don’t think it changes this logic either. It just gives us more options.

Many are completely satisified with how straightforward the loot filter is. However it’s that very simplicity which makes use so complicated for me. Logically I dont think in terms of a long list of rules, eack taking a nibble out of the pool, and this can be lengthy and difficult to update.

Rather my logic is about groups of items/affixes and then I have to translate it to a linear CASE type logic, which is tiresome. An easy example is trying to select for item subtypes. As it is now a new rule is needed for each item type to select subtypes, and combine that with selecting for groups of affixes. Things get messy quickly.

And OR (or NOT) would change things dramatically. The power of rules would be far more flexible.
