I wouldn’t be surprised if low level bases appear with a lower weighting than higher level bases, which is reasonable for trying to get on-level bases to craft with, but it sucks if you’re trying to get a “high” level unique that has a low(er) level base.
From my observations the most items you get are in your levelrange or slightly below it. The further your level exeeds the base items requirement the more unlikely is it to appear. That’s just an observations after tenthousands of gambling attempts so the sample size is pretty small.
So what is my best method of gambling Smoke Weaver?
The Poignards won’t show up for my 85 rogue–are lower levels more apt to gamble it?
Do specific classes affect which bases spawn at the gambler?
I would assume a character that just has the requried levle is a bit more likely to get a poignard in the gambler stock. (so a lvl 52 char)
I don’t think that the class will have much impact, if at all.
Your best method is to not gamble it. Low level bases are definitely weighted against on high level characters. I tried to find the change in the patch notes with no luck, but this is 100% the case.
From my experience the best way to obtain Smoke Weaver is to run the level 55 timeline as high as you can for as long as you need until the dagger drops. Running the level 55 lowers the pool of possible uniques that can drop so you have a higher chance of seeing the dagger.
Also get the %increasd unique drop rate blessing (From Fall Of The Outcast Timeline)
Thanks a lot guys, great info here I will oblige you and hopefully I get me some Smoke Weaver action soon!
I did not even imagine we could get uniques with the gambler. I know I’m a recent player (146 hours), but I’m pretty sure I never got a unique while gambling.
I’m not target gambling either. zi use gambling for finding crafting bases. All uniques I got where unwanted lucky shots.
If you run monolith in higher echoes you find uniques very frequently. All mention uniques I found as drops.
Honestly, you should be allowed to put one item in a “allways shows” slot, so that one of them allways shows in the gambler, but you are not gaurenteed the legendary.
This is especailly important for smoke weaver which requires you to roll a poignard(very low level item) but also for your character to be level 52 for it to show up(which means you cannot gamble it with a low level character).
So you end up haveing to refresh tons of times just to find one poignard to gamble.
I agree on this, there needs to be ways to weight it towards specific bases/affixes.
I agree and while its easy its also uninteresting and takes away from finding the item in gameplay.
Remember when you could shop for idols?! it took all the fun away from finding them in the game and instead just log out log in to refresh shop to find all the idols you needed.
I would like to see uniques be completely taken away from the gambler. The gambler should just be used for trying to get lucky with some better rolled affixes.
Keep uniques RNG out in the world and as only targetable through boss drops
Id like there to be a slider bar where you could pay additional gold for items with increase weight on specific affixes to drop, this might be to powerful and perhaps would only be allowed to weight 1 prefix 1 suffix.
As for weighting base types, as stated above it would no longer be necessary if uniques are just taken away from the gambler.
Depends on how large the weighting is, if it only guarentees ONE of the affixes and triples the roll cost, then it will probably not be all THAT powerful, just a way to save time in exchange for money.
And if it involves a slotted item, that guarenteed affix may be the one junk affix on the item. So you would need to farm or make an item with the correct affixes first.
Not sure what you mean by this.
I meant the possibility of slotting an Item into gambler, where he randomly picks between one of the four affixes(including empty affixes, so just having a single affix on it isn’t a good idea)
So I just dropped 500k gold on the gambler for just the poignard, and I got a total of 6 that actually appeared when every other dagger appeared 100 times at least. That simply can’t be right and it makes building out the end game builds really hard when it won’t drop or even yield the base item to gamble on. As has already been said, this game rocks, so I really believe this error can be fixed. Thank you.
Its not an error.
Its a go out and level and kill stuff and find your gear.
IF you happen to have done that for a really really long time and saved some gold, ok now you can gamble.
With the prices we have right now we should be able to pick the base we are gambling on without the tedious rerolling. Just put every available base item into the window and be good with it. You simply roll for the base you want and the base item stays in the gambler and you can gamble away.
I gambled for 2 Undisputed and I needed roughly 100 rolls for each one :D. They’ve been rather expensive this way. I already see the prices for uniques beeing 100 times the base prices of the gambler when the basar hits and I don’t want to know how much money people will want to have for a 4xT5 base. Inflation ahoy!
I did that big guy…why the hell is everyone so damn testy about suggestions? Seriously the damn item is barely in the loot pool, likely fixable, doesn’t mean I still won’t drop 200-500k gambling to get something cool. Nuff said.
Loot can be a sensitive subject in a loot-based game.
