I noticed ability canceling was taken out recently for the online build of LE. This allowed you to hold down one ability and then press another ability at key times to cancel the currently ability you are using. All the while never having to release the first ability being held. What this translates into is the ability to hold down a main attack skill like multistrike and pulse a larger cooldown skill like Forge Strike behind it in one fluid motion.
Being able to do this smoothed out the builder / spender relationship a whole host of abilities have with each other. The online build has taken this away by forcing you to only have one ability pressed at a time. This small window only adds up to about a 1 second stall window per ability transition but starts to add up when you experience the small interruption each pack of mobs. The result is clunky and less fluid than the current offline version of using abilities together. Even the motion of pressing and releasing 2 buttons in sequence rather just holding one button down and tapping another every few seconds feels worse on my hands.
To Illustrate the point further I made a small clip of offline and online ability canceling. You’ll see in the first clip abilities blend into each other seamlessly while online abilities usage is stiff and outright doesn’t work. Some of the online functionality is preserved when you attack while moving online but the feeling just isn’t the same. Pay special attention to the ability bar to see what is happening:
