Please Add a Way to Lock Equipped Items

It is a terrible player experience and very disheartening to come in to play and find that your weapon or amulet or whatever has been replaced by junk because you played when you were tired the night before and somehow swapped them.

Please give us a way to lock equipped items so they are protected.

My girlfriend somehow lost her helmet this way and to this day claims I’ve ā€œstolen itā€.
It’s a funny injoke, but I can tell she is salty about it.
But the helmet wasn’t in Buyback or anywhere else, so she must’ve shattered or dropped it somewhere…

I did it again last night. :frowning: I noticed my shield was wrong, and fortunately it was still in the Buyback section. Isn’t locking equipped items a qol feature of all top ARPGs?

What forced me to make this thread was losing an amulet I had worked so hard on. I finally had my dream ammy and two nights later it was gone. Poof! I was gutted. Nearly in tears. The most horrible feeling you can imagine over a game. Almost quit.

Why don’t we have this seemingly simple feature?

I do agree that it is a bit too easy to equip items from your inventory. I’m not sure what the solution should be though. Maybe there could be an option to not swap equipped items without a modifier as a menu option? That way you could kind of customize your experience.

There are already a few threads about that:

  • Make it a seetings option to lock gear.
  • Instead of right click use [Alt]+right click. You use that already for comparing gear and it might just feel natural to use it also for changing gear.
  • Put a clickable lock icon in the place where you put gear so that only gear that isn’t locked in place can be changed.

I know that feeling after loosing body armor and helmet by accidentally destroying gear in the forge.

That’s not a game issue. The problem in this case sits between the screen and the chair. Why should EHG put work into childproof/idiotproof (not aimed to offend you just using the terms to make it obvious) systems? If they do this for everything we never see new content, balancing or seasonal content.

I get it there were countrys that suprised people with hot coffee when they bought hot coffee and spilled all over themselfs and now you need labled cups because of this but I don’t think we need stuff like this in LE. Everything is rather obvious.

Not really. PoE doesn’t have it, for example. Though, on the other hand, it doesn’t let you equip via hotkey (you have to manually drag and equip) so the chance for these mistakes are lessened.

The quickest solution that would require the least time invested by EHG would be to add an option to disable equipping with right click altogether.
Another would be to allow remapping the equip to something else (including a combination of keys like the suggested alt+right click).

Nope, it doesn’t happen in PoE, GD, D3 or D4. The only games I’ve seen it in were the Borderlands games.

I’m not sure about D3 (it’s been a while), but D4 has item lock in your inventory.

Upped.

I sold out a some important piece of gear in the past (but was fortunate enough to still find it in the buyback section). I am still unintendedly swapping out my gear from time to time, generally while selling out unneeded stuff (releasing the Shift key a split second too early).

So every time I go to the vendor, I feel the need to quickly check my gear before going back to the hunt, and I do find this check quite tiresome. So yes please, I would very much appreciate a gear locking system - or a change to the way one interacts with its gear ? - so I don’t have to constantly check my gear in fear of dumbly loosing important stuff.
