I tried finding any information or previous post about this but failed. If it is already mentioned somewhere I apologize.
What I would really love is some implementation on player housing (similar to Hideouts in Path of Exile) so we have some customizable personal space where we can access end game and do our crafting etc. For me, In path of exile this is one of the biggest reasons i keep coming back to the game.
Devs have mentioned a few times there will not be player housing and the intent is to have a hub like the End of Time for players to socialize. I fully support that philosophy.
I see, thatās too bad =/
I am always playing SSF in these types of games and trying to keep away from people in general so I really like an āanti-socialā hub where I can just keep to myself and do whatever without ever having to lay my eyes on another human soul.
Guess Iāll just have to wait and see how it turns out in the end.
I threw an Idea of guild housing in some months ago to have some stuff available to guilds (if they ever implement something like thins ingame) where you get housing, some minor buffs, a guild chest to share stuff in the guild you are in and so on and so forth. I think they miss an oppertunity if they neglegt housing all togheter in whatever form it could be.
@Jerle letās be honest⦠10% of the players will socialise and everyone else will mind their own stuff. Itās a wasted opportunity from my point of view for the reasons I told above⦠guild mechanics.
Just imagine your guild owning a fractured floating island and tie it to the End of times junk and build their guild home on it. Still near enough to jump over put some kind of personal space you share with your friends.
On top of that you could make housing fanatics happy if every now and then a random guild home floats by and everyone can look at it from a sight post just to laugh or drool over it ^^. So many possibilitys :D.
Not a missed opportunity at all, on the contrary I think it would be a detriment at this stage. Iām willing to bet itās a matter of resources. Multiplier isnāt even in the game yet and thatās got to be a massive resource hog. Double their staff and they MIGHT be able to do this but given all of the work they currently have to do to get the game to release and with their current staff size this would likely add years to the creation cycle.
If the game is a huge success they could easily revisit this idea if they can grow their resources/manpower, but for now theyāre very smart for not cluttering the waters.
Wholeheartedly agree with that statement. But also I donāt see suggestions like this as a demand to instantly swap priorities to whatever is suggested.
Think big. Think of expansions/ addons / cycle mechanics.
Iām 100% sure EHG doesnāt add anything else to their current roadmap that isnāt already in development. Suggestion like this wonāt lead to LE being delayed. The only things that may lead to another delay is if something in the future goes horribly wrong and needs time to be fixed.
On topic:
I would love to see something like this. Player Housing is something that never can be wrong. People who are not interested can easily skip everything related to it, while others will sink in hour after hour to gather material and build their homes to show off.
The guild related housing also is a nice thing. Warframe has both. You can customize your ship and can build an entire clan base from the scratch.
Farming resources for such things can increase longevity of the game a lot - and with that I mean A LOT!
I completely agree it would be fun and interesting. My comment was really more related to the āmissed opportunityā comment like EHG was somehow āwrongā about choosing not to do it. I think theyāre VERY right not to do it NOW, which is why I mentioned they could easily revisit it down the road once the game is out there, as an expansion of sorts like you commented.
EDIT: and yes, EHG doesnāt need my defending. So Iāll just crawl back under my stone.
Iām on your side with this. From my point of view housing in games is equaly bad as petbuilds and completely unneeded. Yet both are in a somewhat high deamnd and there are even players out there that use more time to decorate stuff then to play the game.
Itās nothing they should do right now but itās something to keep in mind. If EHG is able to hook up communitys rather then a player here and there and offer said communitys oppertunitys to interact ingame they might catch a bunch of players they wereānt able to reach before. I think it would be a nice addition in the future but yes right now there are far more important things to handle then something like this⦠then again every possible hook to catch players might be noteworthy ;).
I think player housing was the biggest mistake in POE and itās not something of an individual choice. It actually affects the entire social community dynamics in game. Player housing was one of those insidious things that led POE to be the online pseudo SSF ARPG experience that it is⦠even if youāre not actually doing SSF.
Haha this is exactly the opposite of how I feel. Pet builds (aka summoner necro/beast druid whatever) are my absolute favorites in any ARPG as well as player housing (if it actually has a purpose and not just a āpaintingā, like in PoE where it is actually your end game hub).
Each to their own though!
Obviously I donāt demand EHG to switch focus and start prioritizing this ASAP, this is a feedback and suggestions forum, they can do whatever they want with the input they get here, itās their game. I would be happy if it was even considered at some point in the future, if they feel like it doesnāt fit their vision, so be it.
I would rather they focus on finishing the game at this point, additional features like this come later.
